Wilbur P. Marten service Wednesday
Wilbur P. Marten, 81, retired
Marten's Restuarant owner and
operator, died Saturday, Jan. 30, at Walnut Valley Manor nursing
home here. His funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Miles Memorial Chapel. Rev. Kenneth Haskell will officate and burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Winfield.
He was born June 29, 1906 William A. and Caroline Marten in St. Elmo, Ill. During his youth his parents moved to Winfield where be graduated from St. John’s High
School Acadamy. After his graduation, he attended St. John's College. On Nov. 9, 1941 Wilbur married Clara O. Hargett in Salalbury, Mo. Survivors are wife, Clara; sons,
Marty of Lafayette, Colo., Don Morrison of Pampa, Texas; daughters, Marilynn Skaer of Augusta, Barbara Focht of Houston; sister, Ida Schmidt of Wichita, and 10 grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with Cowley County Hospital, and William Newton
Memorial Hospital Life Line program, Winfield.

Johnnie Howell dies in Andover
Johnnie Howell, 69, retired construction worker of rural Augusta, died this morning at Andover Nursing Home.
Service and burial for the World War II veteran will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Garrison
Cemetery.
He was born Nov. 28, 1918 to Joshua Albert Howell and Susie Belle Whittaker.
Survivors are sons, Johnie L., James J., David Howell all of Augusta, and Dell, of Goltry, Okla; daughters, Johniece Bell Boles, Ark., and Janell Hopkins of Jet, Okla.; brother, Grant Howell of Jonesboro, Ark.; sister Iola Cooper of St. Louis, Mo.; 11 grandchildren and six great-

Augustan’s mother dies at age 60
Radaetta F. “Habey” Teter, 60, mother of Debie Bush of Augusta, died Saturday, Jan. 30 at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
The funeral will be at 2 o’clock tomorrow afternoon at the Presbyterian Church of Hutchinson. Rev. William T. Soule and Rev. George McCall will officiate and burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Hutchinson.
She was born Oct. 13, 1927 in Hutchinson to Floyd Sumwalt and Viola Koontz.
On Dec 24, 1947, she married Robert L. Teter. He survives.
Other survivors are a son, John R. of Hutchinson; mother, Viola Sumwalt of Hutchinson; brothers, Kenneth Sumwalt of Madison, Wis., Doyle Sumwalt of Lebanon, Mo.; sisters. Juanita Matthews of Mohave Valley, Ariz., Lucille Greenfield of Huchinson, Vera Ray of Nickerson, Rosalie Bontrager of Hutchinson, Ima Jewell Bringle of Chanute, Irma O’Shea of Downey, Calif.; three grandchildren.

Barbara Wheeler dies in hospital
Barbara Jean Wheeler, 60, homemaker of Douglass, died Jan. 30 at HCA Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Services will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Douglass Christian Church. Rev. Dale Valentine will officiate the services and burial will be in Cumberland Cemetery in Augusta.
She was born Jan. 17, 1928 to John and Lois Mauk in Augusta.
Survivors are sons, Tim of Winfield, and Troy of New Orleans, La., daughters, Linda Harper of Broken Arrow, Okla.; brothers, Vern of Wichita, Larry of Bonner Springs, Gene of Baton Rouge, La., Terry of Douglass, and Bill of Augusta; sisters Eleanor Bloom, Joanne Dennis and Connie Stevenson, all of Douglass, and four grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the Douglass Christian Church. Funeral arrangement were made by Hilyard Funeral Home.

Widener dies at 67
Elbert R. Widener, 67, of Augusta, died this morning in Dothan, Ala. Funeral arrangements were incomplete at press time today.

Infant dies in El Dorado
Travis Allen Brown, two months, of Richard and Tina Brown died Tuesday, Feb. 2 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado. He was born Dec. 10 in Wichita.
Service will be 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4 at Carlson Colonial Chapel in El Dorado. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery.
Survivors are grandmother, Shirley Tolbert of Leon; grand-parants, Richard and Waneta Liggett of Roselia, James and Dail Brown of Little Rock, Ark.
Also, great-grandparents, Clifford and Leoma Morris of Augusta, Tom and Justine Cline of Atlanta, Mildred Laughter of Nail, Ark; great-great-grandmother, Roma Morris of Valley Springs, Ark.
Uncles of the infant are Jess Tolbert of Leon, Ben Brown of El Dorado, and Kevin and Brit Liggett of Roselia.
