Douglass resident dies on Thursday
Retired farmer Lewis Homer Stewart, 89, of Douglass, died Thursday, Feb. 11 at Douglass Medicalodge of Douglass.
The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15, at the Douglass Church of Christ and burial will be in Cumberland Cemetery near Douglass.
He was born July 1, 1897 to Mattie A. Bare and James Porter
Stewart in rural Douglass.
On Nov. 2, 1918 he married Evea Rowena Guest near Douglass. She preceded him in death on Sept. 14, 1984.
Stewart was a member of the Douglass Church of Christ and the AF & AM Lodge Surviving are daughter, Mrs. Jerry Jenkins of Douglass; sister, Vera Novak of Wichita; brothers, Willard of Wichita, Jim of Douglass, Cyril of Augusta; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with the Department of Respiratory Services at William Newton Hospital in Winfield and Westview Boys Home in Hollis, Okla.
Funeral arrangements were made by Miles Funeral Home in Winfield.
Augustan’s mother dies in Wichita
Homemaker Vesta M. Tuttle, of Wichita, mother of Paul Tuttle of Augusta, died this morning at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
A memorial service will be Sunday, Feb. 14, at the Old Mission Mortuary in Wichita.
She is survived by daughters, Sally Rogers, Phyllis Scull, both
of Wichita; sons John of San Antonio, Texas, Phil of Ft.
Huron, Mich, Tom of Mendocino, Calif; brothers, Virgil
Dethrow of Springfield, Mo, Lester Dethrow of Chester, I11., Vernon Dethrow of Marshfield, Mo, Tom Dethrow of Havasa, Ariz;
18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Snider dies at 48 in area hospital
Homemaker Carolyn Joyce Snider, 48, of Towanda died Saturday, Feb. 13, at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.
The funeral was this afternoon at the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel in Augusta and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Rev.
C.M. Howell officiated.
She was born Jan. 8, 1940 to William A. “Bud” Dennett and Barbara E Ingold in
Augusta.
On July 2, 1955 she married Hubert D. “Sam” Snider in Augusta. He preceded her in death in 1986. The couple lived in Fort Collins, Colo., from 1972 to 1978.
Survivors are sons, Mike of Fort Collins, Steven of Towanda; daughter Kathy Pratt of Towanda; brothers, David Dennett of Augusta, Doug Dennett of McLouth and four grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Butler County Hospice, Inc. at 720 W. Central in El Dorado, 67042.

Lee M. Trefethen funeral today
Lee M. Trefethen, 75, Kingman, died Friday, Feb. 12, at the Kingman hospital.
His funeral was this afternoon at the Cochran Mortuary in Wichita with Rev. Ivan G. Mat-tern officiating and burial was in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
He was born March 15, 1912 in Lucas to Samuel and Hattie Burch Trefethen.
On March 13, 1949, he and the former Shirley A. Ray were united in marriage during a ceremony in Wichita.
Trefethen was a veteran of World War II.
He leaves three sons, Howard of Haysville, Larry of Pretty Prairie, and Jack of Wichita; three daughters, JoAnn Pilant and Sharon Edmondson, both of Wichita, and Sandra Hutton, of Pretty Prairie; a brother, Alfred of Golden, Colo., and 12 grandhchildren.
Former Augustan dies in Texas
Omer Lynn, 87, former Augustan died Feb. 6 at the Heart of Texas Hospital in Brady, Texas.
Funerl services were held at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Feb.
9 with the burial following in
Cowboy Cemetery in Mercury, Texas. Rev. Roemer Hudler officiated the services.
He was born June 27, 1900 to Joseph Alexander “Eck” Lynn and Mary Evelyn Lunn in Leon.
On March 12, 1921, he married Louise Burner in Wichita. He was preceded by his wife in death in 1984 and by three sisters. The couple moved from this region 20 years ago to Texas.
Survivors are daughters, June Long of Brady, Joyce Martin of Fort Worth, Ione Dennett of Augusta; sister, Wilma Pinick of Houston, Texas; brother, Wilbur Lee, address unknown; six grand-
