Augustan’s brother dies in Tennessee
Elmer Wallace Disspayne, 75, brother of Bernice Floyd of Augusta and former state representative in Tennessee died Tuesday, Feb. 9, after a heart attack at his home in Donelson, Tenn.
The funeral was Friday, Feb. 12, in the Andrew Price United Memorial Methodist Church in Nashville, Tenn. Rev. Jeff Fryer and Rev. Woodward Adams Jr. officiated and burial was in the Woodlawn Memorial Park there.
He was a Georgia native and the son of David Franklin and Mattie Disspayne.
He was a member of the Andrew Price Memorial United Methodist Church, a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of Corinthian Lodge No. 414, AF & AM, and the Shriners organization. Also, Disspayne was a World War II veteran and commander of American Legion Post 88 of Donelson.
He was also a member of the University of Tennessee 1939 football team. In 1971, he was elected to the Nashville city council and in 1975 to the 14th District Metro Council District seat. In 1978, he was elected to the 60th District state representative.
Survivors include wife, Mary; sons, William L. and Elmer Wallace of Donalson, Tenn.; daughters, Wallis Carol Everett of Mount Juliet, Tenn, Deborah Jones of Gladeville, Tenn. and Diane Carter of Donelson; brothers, Tom of Michigan, Roy of Nashville, Ed of Texas; sisters Alma Morton and Evelyn Law-son, both of Gatlinburg, Tenn., Dorothy Crabtree of California, Willia Mai Yacklin of Mich, 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Roscoe E. Dennett dies in Texas
Retired mechanic Roscoe Eldon Dennett, 69, of rural Augusta died Monday, Feb. 29, at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas.
His funeral will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 3, at the Faith Baptist Church of Andover. Rev. Bob McQuire and Rev. Gus Kubish will officiate and burial will be in Andover Cemetery.
He was born Nov. 18, 1918 to John Dennett and Pearl Dirlam in Midian.
On Aug. 6, 1941 he married Betty Phillips. He is also a veteran of World War II.
Survivors are wife, Betty; sons, Gene of Augusta, David of Hill City, Gary of Conway Springs; daughter, Marilyn Frank of Sacramento, Calif.; brothers, Orland of Wichita, Harold of Palco; sisters, Wanda Koontz of Wichita, Mildred of Forristall of Derby; seven grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
Memorials has been established with the Boys State of Lawrence and the American Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements were made by Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta.

Graveside service for Mabel Chapin
Mabel Chapin, 87, died Wednesday, March 2, at the Augusta Medical Complex Long Term Care Unit.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Lakeview Cemetery at Wichita. Rev. Jack Middleton of Wichita Bible College will officate.
She was born Sept. 20, 1900 to Criss Matson and Hilda Nyberg Matson.
She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil in 1976.
Mrs. Chapin leaves a son, Hillary V. Chapin of Augusta; a sister, Mercedes Smith of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials to the Wichita Hospice program have been suggested.
The Downing Lahey Mortuary in Wichita is in charge of arrangements.

Bessie B. Kilgore funeral Saturday
Retired sales clerk Bessie Bell Kilgore, 83, 1727 Cron, died Wednesday, March 2, at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.
Her funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 4, at Dunsford Chapel in Augusta with Rev. Curtis Dunning of the Assembly of God Church officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
She was born Oct. 4, 1904 to Walter Baker and Hattie Hale in Stillwater Okla.
She was preceded in death by a sister, brother, infant daughter, parents, and two granddaughters.
Survivors are sons, Edward Mollenhauer of Augusta, Francis Lee Walter of Dallas, Texas; sister, Hazel Junkens of El Dorado; sister-in-law, Lela Baker of Coffeyville; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
