Saturday funeral set for Coleman
John W. Coleman, 79, formerly of Andover, died this morning at St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel in Wichita. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Coleman, a retired machine operator with Bond Bakery, recently moved to Wichita. Following retirement from the bakery, Coleman was employed by Augusta Unified School District 402 as a custodian.
He is survived by his wife, Bunice, and a son, Philip, both of Wichita. Other survivors include a brother, Theodore of Batesville, Ark., and a sister, Irene, Herring, of Cord, Ark. and two grandsons.
Coleman was a member of the Church of Christ.
Gean Huffman died yesterday
Gean Huffman, 67, of Andover, retired welder with Local 171, died yesterday at HCA Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral will be 11 a.m. tomorrow at Lakeview Funeral Home in Wichita. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Garden Cemetery and the Rev. John White will officiate.
Huffman was born April 18, 1920 to John and Tensy Victory Huffman in Cedarvale.
In 1950, he and Ruth Hughes were married in Arkansas.
His survivors include: wife, Ruth; son, Terry of Wichita; daughter, Diane Stowell of Andover; brother, Jack of Ponca City, Okla.; sister, Helen Dean of Agra, Kan.; three grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Pearl Thompson died in Eureka
Retired cook Pearl A. Thompson, 87, died Friday, March 11, at the Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka.
Her funeral was Sunday afternoon at the Campbell Funeral Home in Eureka and burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery there. Rev. Carl Ellis officiated.
Thompson was born Nov. 12, 1900 to Iva Anderson and Martin Luther Crumrine southwest of Toronto.
She and James L. Thompson Sr. were married in 1924. He preceded her in death in 1946.
Thompson was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Eastwood Rebe-kah Lodge.
Survivors include: grandson, Rick Thompson of Augusta; brother, John Crumrine of Yates Center; sister, Freda Eide of Eureka.
A memorial has been established with the First United Methodist Church.
Roberts infant
Jari Christian Roberts, infant son of Bryan and Tina Roberts of Douglass, died March 9. A service was held Saturday at the Douglass Cemetery.
He also leaves grandparents, Gene and Mary Roberts of Winfield, Ken and Gay Tomlin, Robert and Jean Weaver, all of Douglass; great grandparents Bernice Roberts of El Dorado, Harold and Viola Bryant of Chestnutridge, Mo.
The Miles Memorial Chapel in Winfield was in charge of arrangements.
B.R. ‘Jack’ Baker dies in Andover
Byron R. “Jack” Baker Jr., 65, of Augusta, died Saturday, March 12, in Andover at the Andover Care Center. He was a retired iron worker in the construction industry.
Baker served his country in the United States Air Force as a bomber/fighter pilot in World War II and Korea. He was given a Meritorious Services award for undercover work he did for the Air Force during active duty. He also served in the Air Force reserve for 20 years.
Masonic funeral services will be tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Robert Suderman officiating and burial in Elmwood Cemetery.
Baker was born June 4, 1922 to Byron R. Baker Sr. and Lelia Mayhugh in Wichita.
He married Marjorie Eileen Norton, May 8, 1943, in Fort Worth, Texas. She survives.
He was a member of Iron Workers Local 606 and the Masonic Lodge 384.
Other survivors included sons Byron “Barney” R. Baker III, Augusta, and Jack Baker, Portland, Oregon; daughter Barbara Ann Baker, Nashville; brothers Robert Edward and Richard Hugh, both of Escondido, Calif.; sisters Dorothy Hime, Augusta, Juanita Kipers, Topeka, Laura Lee Langley, Exter, Calif., Kathleen Nutter, Escondido, Calif., and Patricia Pierson, Reading, Mass.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Judith and Betty Jean.
Memorials are requested to the Center for Basic Cancer Research, Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kan., 66506.
