Jerry Hutka Dies at St. Joseph
Augustan Jerry Hutka, 65, died Saturday, March 12, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Wichita. He was a retired welder with Chance Manufacturing in Wichita.
His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, in the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel with Father Thomas Stroot of St. James Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be Elmwood cemetery. Father Thomas Stroot will officiate.
He was born Jan. 5, 1923 to Frank and Mary Pangac Hutka in Seaton, Texas.
On June 21, 1965, he married to Barbara Jo Murphy in Andover. She survives.
He was a member of the Catholic Church.
Other survivors include a daughter, Barbara Ann of Augusta; a step-son, John Novak of El Dorado; step-daughters Teresa Turner, Augusta, and Rhonda Lawrence, Belle Plaine; a brother, Frank, of Kingston, Ontario, Canada; sisters Mary
Hanusch, Belton, Texas, and Lorraine Smith, Jersey City, N.J. and six grandchildren.
Homer T. Marshall service was today
Retired Beech Aircraft employee Homer T. Marshall, 69, El Dorado, brother of Mary Coday from Augusta, died Friday, March 11.
His funeral service was this afternoon at the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home in El Dorado with Rev. Hank Demous officiating and burial was in the Walnut Valley Memorial Park cemetery.
Marshall was born Feb. 24, 1919 in Haverhill to Ira T. and Bertha Covert Marshall.
He was married Jan. 10, 1941 and preceded in death by his wife.
Other survivors are a son, John of El Dorado; a daughter, Sue Ellen Polak of Wichita; four brothers, Robert of Warrensburg, Mo., Merle of Loveland, Colo., Tom and Kenneth, both of El Dorado; three other sisters, Edna Jennings of Independence, Mo., Winifred Shriver of Aztec, N.M., and Katherine Calvert of Long-mont, Colo., and two grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the El Dorado First Christian Church.

Dean D. Cerney dies at hospital
Self-employed carpenter Dean D. Cerney, 61, El Dorado, died Friday, March 11, at the Augusta Medical Complex.
His funeral will be 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, March 15, at the Carlson Funeral Home colonial chapel with Rev. Gus Kubish of Central Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Lawn Cemetery at El Dorado.
Cerney was born Sept. 30, 1926 in Ogallah to Frank T. and Anna Kvasnicka Cerney.
On June 1, 1959, he and the former Barbara Bachtel were united in marriage at Miami, Okla. She survives.
Cerney was a veteran of World War II.
Other survivors include a son, Robert Dean of El Dorado; a daughter, Linda Kay Case of Augusta; two sisters, Evelyn Carlton of El Dorado and Clara Miller of Woodland, Wash., and a granddaughter.
A memorial has been established at the Central Baptist Church of rural Augusta.

Former Augustan dies at age 91
Pyrle Chitwood Nauman, 91, Peck, formerly of Augusta, died Monday, March 14.
A funeral service for this homemaker will be 2 o’clock tomorrow afternoon at the Conway Springs Cemetery.
Survivors include a grandson, Russell Chitwood of Wichita, and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials to the American Heart Association have been suggested. The Ebersole Mortuary at Conway Springs is in charge of arrangements.
Delbert Wade died at AMCI
Delbert N. Wade, 69, of Douglass, died Monday, March 14, at Augusta Medical Complex Inc. He was a farmer and dairyman.
Graveside services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the Douglass Cemetery. The Rev. Dan Ferguson will officiate.
Wade was born Sept. 22, 1918 to Perry and Nina Wade, in Rock.
He was a member of the Douglass Masonic Lodge and a graduate of Douglass High School.
He is survived by two brothers, Jack and Verne, both of Douglass; a sister, Margaret de Jarnette, of Pittsburg, Mo.; and 14 nieces and nephews.
Memorials have been established with the Douglass Senior Citizens’ Center and the Anthony Stiles Liver Transplant Fund, Wichita.
Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home, Douglass, is handling the arrangements.

Walter J. Spencer died on March 14
Retired carpenter Walter J. Spencer, 92, of Emporia, father of Walter E. Spencer of Leon, died Monday, March 14.
His funeral service will be 2 o’clock Friday afternoon at the First Christian Church in Emporia. The Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Additional survivors include his wife, Ernestine Naomi; two other sons, John E. of Wichita and Albert E. of Blaine; four daughters; a brother, four sisters; 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the First Christian Church of Emporia.
