Marie Glenn service Saturday
Marie Haaga Glenn, 86, died early today at the Douglass Medicalodge.
Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 19, at the Miles Memorial chapel in Winfield and burial will be in the Douglass Cemetery.
She was born May 16, 1901 on a farm near Atlanta as a daughter of Joseph and Dolly Varden Ensley Haaga.
On Nov. 16, 1927, she and Curtis W. Glenn were united in marriage in a ceremony at El Dorado. He died in 1985.
Survivors include a sister, Blanche Need of Douglass, nieces and nephews.
Memorials to the Douglass Medicalodge have been suggested.

Helen M. Lucas service tomorrow
Helen M. Lucas, 91, El Dorado, mother of Avery Lucas and Martha Leonhard, both of Leon, died Thursday, March 17, at the Knutson Manor nursing home in El Dorado.
Her funeral service will be 2 o’clock tomorrow afternoon (March 19) at the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home in El Dorado. Rev. Mike Guthrie of the Leon Christian Church will officiate and burial will be in the Blankenship Cemetery at Rosalia.
She was born as a daughter of Hubert and Theresa Calhoun Haynes in Franklin, Ill.., on Nov. 6, 1896.
She married Charles C. Lucas at Rosalia April 18, 1917. He died in 1968.
Mrs. Lucas was a homemaker and a member of the Rosalia Christian Church.
She also leaves a son, Glenn of El Dorado, 11 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the church at Rosalia.

Chester Doornbos dies at hospital
Chester A. Doornbos, 74, El Dorado, father of Janice Bigelow of Leon, died Thursday, March 17, at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.
His funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 21, at St. John’s Catholic Church in El Dorado. Msgr. Charles Walsh will officiate and burial will be in the Sunset Lawn Cemetery there. A rosary wil be said for Mr.
Doornbos at 7 o’clock Sunday evening (March 20) in the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home of El Dorado.
He was born Aug. 11, 1913 in Wichita to Chester and Blanche Price Doornbos.
On Dec. 12, 1942, he and the former Frances H. Tuma were married in St. Paul, Minn. She survives.
Doornbos was a retired employee of the Kansas Turnpike Authority. This army veteran of World War II was founder of the first Alcoholics Anonymous group in El Dorado.
Also surviving are a son, Dennis of Las Cruces, N.M.; another daughter, Dolores Tarman of Edmond, Okla., and 12 grandchildren.

Hazel L. Boyd dies at hospital
Homemaker Hazel L. Boyd,
82, Wichita, mother of Florence Mason of Augusta, died Saturday, March 19, at the HCA Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Her funeral service will be 10 o’clock Wednesday morning (March 23), at the Resthaven Mortuary in Wichita and burial will follow in the Garden of Memory there. Rev. Bruce Smith of the Town & Country Christian Church.
She was born April 3, 1905 in Eufala, Okla., as a daughter New- land B. and Mary E. Flannery.
Other survivors include a son,
Jerry Boyd of Wichita; other daughters, Lela G. Boyd of Wichita and Bonita Powell of Goddard; a sister, Dolly Blanchard of Oklahoma City,
Okla.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

F. Rudolph Davis died on Sunday
Retired dairy farmer and oil field worker F. Rudolph “Rudy” Davis, 87, Rock, brother of Donald Davis of Augusta, died Sunday, March 20, at the Douglass Medicalodge.
His funeral will be 2 o’clock tomorrow afternoon (March 22) at the Rock United Methodist Church. Rev. Dan Ferguson will officiate and cremation will follow.
He was born March 23, 1901 at Glenarm, I11., as a son of Charles F. and Nancy E. Davis.
On Mary 24, 1942, he and Meryl Parsons were married at Winfield. She survives.
In addition to his wife, Davis leaves a son, Wallace “Rusty” Davis of El Dorado; a daughter, Allyson Ann of Johnson; two other brothers, Gilbertof Winfield and Grant of Wichita, and a sister, Myrtle Fern Miller of Douglass.
Memorials to the Kansas Masonic Home and the Southwestern College scholarship fund have been suggested.
The Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Augustan’s father dies at age 96
Retired farmer and truck driver George W. McGuire, 96, Ellin-wood, father of Mary Surface of Augusta, died Friday, March 18.
His funeral was this afternoon at the Hilltop Cemetery in Raymond.
In addition to a daughter here, he leaves sons Harold of Wichita, and Fredrick of Haven; another daughter, Shirley Lemings of Wichita; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchildren.
The Kimple Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
