Albert B. Smith dies at hospital
Retired farmer Albert B. Smith, 72, Wichita, stepfather of Douglas Russell of Douglass, died Sunday, March 20, at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral service will be 2 o’clock tomorrow afternoon (March 22) at the First Christian Church in Dighton.
He was born Dec. 4, 1915 in Oklahoma as a son of Leonidas and Myrtle Smith.
He leaves his wife, Arlene; daughters Jana Johnston of Great Bend, Garalyn Avery and Jilinda Johnson, both of Manhattan, Stephana Manwarren of Preston, another stepson, Bill Wheatcroft of Wichita; stepdaughters, Dallas Krippner of Cottonwood, Ariz., and Mary Ellencole of Wichita; 26 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The Downing & Lahey Mortuary in Wichita is in charge of arrangements.

Keith N. Moore service Thursday
Retired printer Keith N. Moore, 69, 1804 Meadowlake Drive, died today at Augusta Medical Complex.
His funeral mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. James Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery of rural Augusta.
A Christian wake service will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
He was born May 13, 1918 in Atlantic, Iowa., as a son of Robert H. and Ora Clayton Moore.
On Aug. 18, 1946, he and Evelyn A. Wallace were married in Kansas City, Kan. She survives.
Moore worked for Butler County Printing in El Dorado before his retirement. He served with the army in World War II.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Moore of Dallas, Texas, and Stephen Moore of Augusta; two daughters, Carol Farris of Omaha, Neb., and Janet Dalton of Phoenix, Ariz., and three grandchildren.

A.W. ‘Bill’ Nyce dies in Oklahoma
A.W. “Bill” Nyce, 61, of Enid, Okla., father of Cherilyn Chiaro of Augusta, died Sunday, March 20.
His funeral service will be tomorrow (March 22) at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Enid.
He was born June 15, 1926 in El Paso, Texas, as a son of Arnet-te and Alta Atterbury Nyce.
The family relocated to Woodward, Okla., when he was a youngster and he graduated from Woodward High School in 1944.
Nyce enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force and following his discharge, returned to Woodward and attended junior college there.
On Jan. 21, 1946, he and the former Doris L. Achee were married in Woodward and made their first home there. She also survives.
Later, the couple lived in Wichita before relocating to Enid in 1953.
He worked as a wholesale drug salesman prior to his retirement in October of 1984.
He was a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, a 32nd degree Mason in Garfield Lodge 501 AF & AM, and a member of the Akdar Shrine at Tulsa, Okla.
In addition to his wife and daughter, Mr. Nyce leaves two sons, Kent of Washington, La., and Brooks of Enid, and five grandchildren.
Memorials to St. Matthew’s Church, the Enid Shrine Club Crippled Children’s Fund or the American Heart Association have been suggested.

Maude V. Rader dies in Douglass
Maude V. Rader, 83, Douglass, died Friday, March 18, at the Douglass Medicalodge.
The funeral was this afternoon at the Wilmot, Kan., cemetery. Miles Memorial Chappel, Winfield, made the arrangements.
She was born Jan. 8, 1905, at New Haven, Ind., to Ralph W. and Ethel “Libby” Null. They moved to the Pratt area where she graduated from Pratt High School.
In 1920, she married William M. Rader.
She lived in the Great Bend area before moving to Wichita in 1940. During World War II, she worked at Boeing Aircraft. She also worked as chief salad hostess for the Lassen Hotel/Restaurant, with Bond Bakery and Peerless Pie Co. She was dietary directory for Mt. Carmel Girls School when she retired in 1956.
In 1984, she move to Douglass to live with her son and his family. She had resided at the Medicalodge since February.
She is a former member of the Glenville Bible Baptist Church, Wichita, and more recently attended the First Baptist Church, Douglass. She was a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Wichita.
Survivors include two sons, Billy D. of Valley Center and Scott L. of Douglass; two sisters, Pauline Stacey of Pratt and Jane Brungardt of McPherson; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Claude Null.
Memorials have been suggested to the Douglass Medicalodge.
