Lucinda J. Cooley died at AMCI
Lucinda J. Cooley, 92, of Douglass, died Tuesday, March 22, at the Augusta Medical Complex Inc.
Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 25, at the First Christian Church, Douglass. Rev. Dale Valentine will officiate and burial will be in the Douglass Cemetery.
This homemaker lived her entire life in the Douglass area.
She was born Aug. 8, 1895, to Ernest and Elizabeth Henshaw, at Rock.
She married Frank B. Cooley, Nov. 26, 1913 in Douglass. He preceded her in death in 1961.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Douglass.
She is survived by two sons, Harold and Bill; two daughters, Austie Graves and Leota Newman, all of Douglass; a sister, Beth Finney of Winfield; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Ernest and two grandsons.
A memorial has been established with the First Christian Church. Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home, Douglass, is handling the arrangements.
McClain memorials to diabetes group
Memorials to the American Diabetes Association have been suggested for Norman T. McClain, 71, who died Monday, March 21, at Augusta Medical Complex.
His funeral will be at 2 o’clock tomorrow afternoon (March 24) in the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery, El Dorado.
He was a retired owned of McClain Tank Truck Services and a contract pumper.
From 1960 to his 1984 retirement, he lived in Ardmore, Okla., working for Reading & Bates Off Shore Drilling Co.
He was born Nov. 4, 1916 to Walter and Dorenda Ann McClain in Wichita.
He married Barbara L. Hunter on July 22, 1966, in Eureka.
Survivors are a son, Jerald D. of Goddard; a step-son, Dr. M. Kent Sidel, Columbia, S.C.; a sister, Lulu Tarrant, Wichita, and a grandson, Mongomery T. McClain, Goddard.

Fern I. Chauncey dies in Chanute
Homemaker Fern I. Chauncey, 87, Chanute, sister of Billy Graves of Douglass, died Tuesday, March 22.
Her funeral was today in Chanute and burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery there.
Mrs. Chauncey also leaves a son, Charles of Chanute; daughters, Ann Trembly of Clayton, N.M., Jean Baldwin of Chino, Calif.; another brother, Frank Graves of Parsons, nine grand-children and 22 great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the First Christian Church at Chanute.
The Gibson-Koch Funeral Home at Chanute is in charge of arrangements.

Oldest Augusta resident dies
The oldest man living in Augusta died this week at the local hospital.
Roy D. Kurban, 102, a resident of Osage Manor until he suffered a fall at his apartment earlier this month, died Wednesday, March 23, at Augusta Medical Complex.
His funeral service will be 9:30 a.m. tomorrow (March 26) at the St. George Orthodox Church in Wichita and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery there.
He was born Nov. 22, 1885.
Mr. Kurban leaves two sons, Phillip of San Francisco, Calif., and Robert of Arlington, Texas; four daughters, Marjorie Gebhard of West Pittsburg, Calif., Ruth Hundemer of Riverside, Texas, Theresa Pugh of Salimus, Calif., and Rachel Adams of Wichita, 10 grandchidlren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Memorials to the church and the Wichita Crippled Children’s Home have been suggested.
