C. Davenport Dies At 68
Claude Davenport, 68, Phillips, Texas, a former Bloomington resident, died July 6 in an Amarillo, Texas hospital.
His service was July 9 in Borger, Texas. Rev. Leonard Forsythe officiated.
He was born May 8, 1914 in Sevierville, Tenn., to Ash and Sally Thomas Davenport.
He married Alice Williamson. She survives.
He worked for Phillips Petroleum Co., for 33 years. He was a World War II veteran.
Other survivors include a brother, Max Davenport, Norman, Okla., and two sisters. Hazel Jacoby of Wichita and Ruth Randall of Douglass.

V. Powell Dies At 67
Velma Powell, 67, Wichita, died Tuesday at Halstead Hospital in Halstead.
Her service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home in Douglass. Rev. John Minor will officiate and burial will be in the Latham Cemetery.
She was born Aug. 3, 1914 in Alva, Okla., to John W. and Edna Baker Downen.
She married Charles W. Powell Feb. 28, 1937 in Freedom, Okla. He preceded her in death in 1965.
She was a resident of the Burden, Latham and Atlanta areas for a number of years.
Survivors include sons, James W. Powell of Rose Hill and Charles A. Powell of Derby; a daughter, Edna Chastain of Wichita; a brother, Roy Downen of Burden; four sisters, Joy Jennings of Wagoner, Okla., Norma Creed of Honeywell, Belle Brumley of Tulsa, Okla., and Irene Smalley of Altanta, and four grandchildren.
Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home in Douglass is in charge of ar-rangments.

Lee Dennett Dies At 86
Lee Dennett, 86, Argonia, father of Augustan Mary Lee Berg, died yesterday at the Harper, Kan., hospital.
His funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Elliott Funeral Home in Harper and burial will be in the Harper cemetery.
He was a member of the Norwich Chruch of Christ and memorials are suggested to the Maude Carpenter Children’s Home in Wichita.
Dennett was born July 30, 1895 in Missouri. He was a retired Santa Fe railroad employee and had been a resident of Argonia since 1978.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Edith Jane Smart, in 1963.
Other survivors include: two sons, Lonnie of Argonia and Dan of Anchor Point, Alaska; four other daughters, Aileen Smith of Paradise, Calif., Ruby Tobey of Wichita, Wynette Tracy of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Melba Wilkin of Aurora, Mo.; 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Nila White Dies At 78
Nila G. White, 78, 1611 Ohio, died today at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
Her service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Byrd-Snodgrass Funeral Home in Wichita. Rev. Harold Greer will officiate and burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Sedgwick.
She was born July 2, 1904 in Greenwood, Wis., to Ransom and Lydia Amos Peterson.
She married John S. White. He preceded her in death in 1941.

Infant Dies
Jason McKay, El Dorado, infant great-grandson of Paul and Gladys Johnson, Augusta, died Wednesday at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
His service was at 2 p.m. today at the Lamb Mortuary in Whitewater. Rev. Wilfred Jackson officiated and burial was in the Whitewater Cemetery.
He was born July 31, 1981 in Moundridge to Paul and Kathleen Hopkins McKay. They survive.
Other survivors include his grandparents, Claude and Julia Hopkins and Delano and Betty McKay, all of Potwin, and a great-grandmother, Mrs. John Hopkins of King, Texas.

W.L. Botkin Dies At 80
William L. Botkin, 80, 735 East Stadium Drive, died Saturday at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
His service will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Douglass United Methodist Church. Rev. John Martin will officiate and burial will be in the Douglass Cemetery.
He was born April 17, 1902 in Dennison, Texas to Warren and Maye Bollman Botkin.
He married Bertha L. Reynolds March 27, 1922 in Agra, Okla. She survives.
He was a retired farmer. He lived in Douglass until three years ago when he moved to Augusta.
Other survivors include a son, J.D. Botkin of Wichita; a sister, Faye Covey of Elsmore, and two granddaughters.
Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home in Douglass is in charge of arrangements.
