Seward funeral held today at Baptist Church
Lynda Ruth Seward, 48, of Augusta, died Friday, June 17, at HCA Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
A memorial service for Seward was held today at The First Baptist Church in Augusta. Burial was in Leon Cemetery. Rev. Myrl Horner officiated the service.
She was born Sept. 25, 1939, to Arwin W. and Ruth E. (Nichols) Jackson in El Dorado.
On July 15, 1981, she married Darrell I. Seward.
Both parents and husband survive.
Seward was a business manager for both Leon High School and Butler County Community College. Her organizational interests included the Beta Sigma Phi sorority and volunteer work for Wesley Hospital. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Augusta.
In addition to her husband and parents, Seward is survived by a son, Gregory Lance Gardner of Douglass; daughter, Glynda Gardner of Derby; stepdaughter, Christine Mershon of Fort Worth, Texas; brother, David A. Jackson of rural Augusta; two grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the BCCC Scholarship Fund in memory of Lynda Seward. Contributions may be
sent to the college or Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta.

Injuries fatal for Mc Calla; rites pending
James L. McCalla, 23, of Phoenix, Ariz., died Saturday, June 18, near Prescott, Ariz., of injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
Funeral arrangements were pending this morning with Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery with Rev. Burl Allison Jr. officiating.
McCalla was born Sept. 15, 1964, to Robert J. and Beverly (Pippin) McCalla in Wichita.
He attended Augusta public schools and graduated from AHS in 1983. He was active in the Oriole baseball program. McCalla was a self-employed owner of Mac Body Building Systems.
He is survived by a brother, Robert D. of Augusta.

James McCalla rites Thursday
James Lee McCalla, 23, of Phoenix, Ariz., died Saturday, June 18, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. He was a 1983 graduate of Augusta High School.
His funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Dunsford Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Rev. Burl Allison Jr. will officiate the service.
He was born Sept. 15, 1964, to Robert J. and Beverly (Pippin) McCalla in Wichita. They both survive.
McCalla moved to Arizona in 1984. He was the owner of Mac Body Building Systems, a business which specialized in building weight training equipment. While attending AHS, he was the starting pitcher for the Orioles in the championship game of the 1983 1-4A State Tournament which Augusta won over Galena.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Robert D. of Augusta; grandmothers, Dorothy L. Pippin and Norma E. Haigler of Augusta.

McCalla memorial
The family of James Lee McCalla has established a memorial for him with the Augusta Sports Complex. Contributions can be left at Citadel Bank in Augusta.
McCalla was killed Saturday, June 18, in an automobile accident near Prescott, Ariz.
