Gretta L. Grimes died Sunday
Gretta Louise Grimes, 86, of Arkansas City, died Sunday, July 3. She was the sister of Mildred Strode of Augusta.
Her memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Arkansas City.
Grimes was a retired co-owner, bookkeeper and secretary for Grimes Transport and Grimes
Superior Station.
She is survived by another sister, Beulah Ferguson of Council Grove.
A memorial has been established with the First Presbyterian Church of Arkansas City. Rindt-Erdman-Oldroyd Funeral Home of Arkansas City is in charge of arrangements.
Former Augustan died Saturday
David Olen Daniel, of El Dorado, died Saturday, July 2. He was a former resident of Augusta, living here for 11 years.
Services for Daniel will be held 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado and 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sunset Lawn Cemetery.
Daniel was born Sept. 13, 1935, to Olen B. and Helen M. (Rice) Daniel in Denison.
His organizational interests included Masonic Lodge 97, AF & AM, Wichita Consistory, Midian Shrine, El Dorado Moose Lodge and Butler County Red
Scats. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; sons, Randy of Augusta, Scott of Liberal, Jeff of Phoenix; daughters, Julie Ritz of Houston, Diana Carr of Augusta, Lisa Big Mountain of Wichita; stepson, Mike Wells of Wichita; stepdaughter, Vicki Hamilton of Goddard; brother, Wayne of Phoenix; sister, Bernice Edwards of Ozark, Mo.; nine grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.

Former Augustan dies in Wichita
Lloyd R. Hill, 87, of Mulvane, died Monday, July 4, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita. He was a former resident of Augusta.
His memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Mulvane United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Mulvane Cemetery.
Hill was born Sept. 14, 1900, to Edwin and Ina (Sisco) Hill between Augusta and Towanda.
He was a former employee of the Wichita Eagle-Beacon and a past grandmaster of the International Order of Odd Fellows.
He is survived by his wife, Lottie; daughter Dorothy Graber of Mulvane; stepson, Larry Carver of Lawrence; stepdaughter, Patsye Unruh of Chino, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; five step grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with the Mulvane United Methodist Church and the American Diabetes Association.
Senter-Smith Mortuary in Mulvane is in charge of funeral arrangements.
Frank Veeman’s mother dies
Mary Veeman, 63, of Clarinda,
Iowa, died Tuesday, July 5. She was the mother of Frank Veeman of Augusta.
Her memorial service has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Walker Funeral Home in Clarinda.

Former Augustan died Wednesday
Nola Ruth Doublin, 88, of El Dorado, died Wednesday, July 6. She was a former resident of Augusta and the sister of Robert Roby.
Her memorial service is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Dunsford Funeral Home Chapel in Augusta. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Pastor Dale Lewis officiating the service.
She was born Sept. 7, 1899, to Henry Houston and Amanda (McCandless) Roby in Viola, Ark. In 1917, she married Horace Doublin in Viola.
Doublin, a housewife, is also survived by a son, Roudolph of Anaheim, Calif.; daughter, Agnes Adams of Ava, Mo.; brother, Owen Roby of Salem, Ark.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Brother died July 4 in Blue Rapids
Otto Kotapish, 88, died Monday, July 4, in Blue Rapids. His is the brother of Rose Rhine of Augusta.
A retired farmer, Kotapish died on his 88 birthday. His funeral services were this morning in Blue Rapids.

Abbie Paschal, 87, of rural Augusta, died Wednesday, July 6. She was the mother of Irving N. Paschal, also of Augusta.
Service time has not yet been determined, but will be held in Muskogee, Okla., through People’s Funeral Home.
Paschal was born Feb. 7, 1901, to Gus and Georgia Moody in Louisiana.
She is also survived by three other sons, John A. Jr. of Tulsa, Raymond J. of Maywood, Ill. and Benjamin of Haywood, Calif.; sisters, Mollie Williams of Shreveport, La. and Lula Mae Moody of Kansas City, Mo.; 24 grandchildren.
