Rural Augustan’s service today
John Eugene Brewer, 35, of rural Augusta, died Friday, July 8.
His funeral service was held earlier today at Earl’s Memorial Home in Fort Scott. Burial was in Farlington Cemetery at Farlington.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Augusta and the National Rifle Association.
Brewer, a structural engineer for Wilson Engineering, is survived by his parents, Harold and Loretta Brewer of rural Augusta; sister, April Diane Harker of Augusta; grandmothers, Ida Darity of Girard, Mary Brewer of Fort Scott.
Two brothers, David Ray and Darrell Wayne preceded him in death.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.
Local man’s father died Sunday
Charles L. Keeton, 71, of Wichita, died Sunday, July 10. He was the father of Charles R. Keeton of Augusta.
Rosary and memorial services will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church in Wichita. Rosary is scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight with the memorial service following at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Keeton was a retired employee of Chance Manufacturing.
In addition to his son, Keeton leaves a wife, Lorene; daughters, Lefa Pendleton, Margaret Wiles, both of Wichita, Teresa Mullen of Dallas; brothers, Albert, Johnny, both of Wichita, Walter of Haysville, Kenneth of Tahlequah, Okla., Buster of Fort Worth, Texas; sisters, Annie Reed, Rubie Evans, both of Wichita, Alma Stiffler of Edmund, Okla., Dovey Nichols of Call, Texas; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Seiler Funeral Home in Colwich is in charge of service arrangements.

Centarian dies in nursing home
Mattie F. Ogg, 100, of Douglass, died Sunday, July 10, at the Medicalodge in Douglass.
Her memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Douglass United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Douglass Cemetery.
She was born July 19, 1887, to Aaron F. and Mary Ann (Gerhardt) Stanley.
On Dec. 25, 1906, she married Dr. C.A. Ogg in Westmoreland. He preceded her in death in 1963.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 82 years, and was a charter member of the PEO.
Her survivors include three nephews, Frank Stanley of Fayetteville, Ark., Bill Stanley of Topeka, Herman Ogg of Green Valley, Ariz.; nieces, Eileen Welsh of California, Mary Ann Tucker of Kent, Wash., Laverne Littlejohn of Tuttle, Okla.
A memorial has been established with the Douglass United Methodist Church Organ Fund.
Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home in Douglass is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial service for McCaffree
Irene McCaffree, 79, of Augusta, died Sunday, July 10, of injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
Her memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Leon United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.
She was born Oct. 22, 1908, in Leon to Arnie and Syble (Brown) Saglem.
On Nov. 8, 1933, she married Lawrence E. McCaffree in Leon. He survives of the home.
McCaffree was a retired school
teacher. Her organizational memberships included the Augusta United Methodist Church, Butler County Teachers Association and the National Teachers Association.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Larry of El Dorado, Keith, Ken, both of Wichita; sisters, Inger Pennington of Augusta, Geneva Jones of Wichita; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado is in charge of service arrangements.
Service tomorrow for Wichitan
Deborah G. Hutto, 31, of Wichita, died Sunday, July 10.
Her memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Byrd-Snodgrass Funeral Home in Wichita. Burial will be in Wichita Park Cemetery.
She was born August 25, 1956,
to Gene and JoAnn Hutto. Both parents survive.
In addition to her parents, she leaves a brother, Marc of Wichita.
Memorials have been established with the American Diabetes Association and the Sedgwick County Mental Health Association.
