Former Augustan died June 28
Frank Prosser, 82, of Independence, died Tuesday, June 28, at Mercy Hospital in Independence. He was a former resident of the Augusta and Wichita area.
Rosary was recited at Potts Chapel-Schmidt Funeral Service in Independence. Mass was held Friday, July 1 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Independence with Rev. Kevin Trayers officiating. Burial was in Liberty Cemetery.
Prosser was born March 30, 1906, at Delphos to Edward and Lucille (Hahn) Prosser. He attended school in Delphos. After his schooling, he worked as a mechanic for many years at different dealerships in the Augusta and Wichita area and then was self-employed for 15 years. Later, he worked as a truck driver for 10 years and most recently was
employed as a jailer for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department.
On March 3, 1930, he. married Agnes Gegen in Wichita. She survives of the home.
Prosser was a member of the St. Andrew’s Catholic Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Harold of Ferndale, Wash., Howard of Independence, James of Mound Valley and Melvin of Walnut; daughters, Dorothy Schofield of Dover, N.H., Millie Johansen of Latmeier, Iowa, Marjorie Barrager, Donna Lyon and Janice Prosser, all of Independence; brothers, Charles and Jessie Prosser, both of California; sisters, Nettie and Violet Sullivan, both of Oklahoma City; 30 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
Leon man’s cousin died Sunday
David J. Ross, 65, of Wichita, died Sunday, July 10. He was a cousin of Lewis Sears of Leon.
A private graveside service will be held.
Ross is survived by another cousin, Maxine Ruby of Bushnell, Ill.
Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Retired farmer dies at home
C.F. “Frank” Martin, 95, of rural Augusta, died Tuesday, July 12, at his home.
His memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Dunsford Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Cumberland Cemetery with Rev. Dale Valentine officiating the service.
He was born March 26, 1893, to Charles S. and Rachel M. (Smith) Martin in Arkansas.
On June 19, 1913, he married Leora E. Baum in El Dorado. She preceded him in death in 1967.
Martin, a retired farmer, is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann "Ruby” Groves of Haysville; six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
A son, Melvin, and a daughter, Helen Abel, also preceded him in death.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Center for Basic Cancer Research at Kansas State University.
Augustan’s mother dies in Arkansas
Nancy O. (Ferguson) Shackelford, 73, of Centerton, Ark., died Sunday, July 10. She was a former Wichita resident and the mother of Donnie Shackelford of Augusta.
A memorial service was held earlier today at the Freewill Baptist Church in Bentonville, Ark.
In addition to her son, she is survived by her husband, William; sons, William Jr. of Wichita, Philip of Bentonville; daughter, Levita Coley of Tulsa; brother, Acie Ferguson of Bentonville; sister, Bunie Brown of Winfield;
10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Freewill Baptist Church, Foreign Mission.
Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Service held for Nelson’s relative
Clark C. Adcock Sr., 78, of Nickerson, died Tuesday, July 12. He was the stepfather of Billie Nelson of Augusta.
Adcock’s memorial service was held earlier today at Memorial Park Cemetery in Hutchinson.
He was a retired formean for the Sante Fe Transportation Company.
In addition to his stepdaughter, he is survived by his wife, Helen; daughters, Ann Dipman of Hutchinson and Judy Dick of Pratt; stepsons, Larry Ravenstien, Jerry Ravenstien, both of Nickerson; stepdaughter, Sandy Shultz of Nickerson; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with the American Cancer Society and the First Baptist Church in Hutchinson.
Elliott Mortuary of Hutchinson was in charge of funeral arrangements.
Friday service for Genevieve Ohman
Genevieve M. Ohman, 66, died Tuesday, July 12. She was the mother of Ernest W. Ohman and Eric P. Ohman of Augusta.
Her funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Hill City.
Ohman also leaves her husband Ernest L.; son, Jeffrey of Ingalls; daughters, Karen Ann Stark of Odessa, Texas, Linda Jonell Dwyre of Ingalls; brother, Raymond Vickerman of Romulus, Mich.; sister, Lois Lee Knisley of Honor, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Spencer Chapel in Hill City is in charge of service arrangements.
