Monday, July 18, 1988
Kendall C. Ellis died on July 16
Kendall C. Ellis, 36, of Wichita, brother of Kim Baughman of Douglass, died Saturday, July 16.
A service for Ellis was held today at Greenlawn Cemetery in Pratt.
In addition to his sister, he is survived by a son, Barrett K. of the home; father and stepmother, Richard and Donell Ellis, mother and stepfather, Phyllis and Charlie Hoffman, all of Pratt; grandmother, Elizabeth S. Grubb of Pratt.
A memorial has been established with Pratt Regional Medical Center.
Larrison Mortuary in Pratt was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Gilbert Davis died in Winfield
Gilbert Davis, 82, of Winfield, died Saturday, July 16 at his home.
His memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Miles Memorial Chapel in Winfield. Interment will be in Burden Cemetery.
He was born Oct. 2, 1905, to Charles Franklin and Nancy E. (Plummer) Davis in Glenarm, Ill.
On Sept. 1, 1936, he married Mildred Crowley. She survives.
Davis is also survived by three daughters, Marolyn Lytle of Smith Center,' Carolyn Daniels of Abilene, Kathy Lady of Independence, Mo.; three brothers, Donald of Augusta, Howard of Douglass, Grant of Wichita; sister, Myrtle Miller of Douglass; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with the Free Methodist Church of Winfield and Cowley County Hospital. Contributions can be mailed to Miles Funeral Home, Box 720, Winfield, Kan. 67156.

Grandmother Carey died on Thursday
Mildred Carey, 95, of Goddard, died Thursday, July 14. She was the grandmother of Marlin L. Carter of Augusta.
A memorial service for Carey was held today at Wichita Park Cemetery.
Other survivors include two grandchildren, Jan White of West Virginia, Rama Wolken of California; 10 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Byrd-Snodgrass Funeral Home in Wichita directed the service.

Augustan’s nephew died Tuesday
John McCreary, 75, of Emporia, nephew of Esther Lockwood of Augusta, died Tuesday, July 19.
His memorial service was held Friday in Emporia.
McCreary is survived by his wife, Alice; daughter, Jan; son, J.B.; half-sister, Elizabeth; six grandchildren.

Bostwick funeral on Friday
Pauline Mildred Bostwick, 86, died July 19, at Augusta Medical Complex Inc. She lived her entire life in the Butler County area.
Her memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Dunsford Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery with Dr. Robert Firebaugh officiating the service.
She was born April 15, 1902 in Augusta to Charles O. and Gertrude (Long) Varner. On May 25, 1935, she married Edgar P. Bostwick in Augusta. He survives.
Bostwick attended elementary school at Floral, a country school southwest of Augusta. She graduated from AHS and attended Baker University in Baldwin for one year.
She was employed by Prairie State Bank for 21 years. She also was a member of the Augusta
Board of Education for 12 years, serving as president for two terms and later as treasurer for eight years.
Her organizational interests included the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, over 50 years in the Eastern Star, charter member of Book Club, a member of PEO, Business & Professional Women and membership in the United Methodist Church.
She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed the fellowship it provided her.
Bostwick, a homemaker, is survived by a son, Don of Benton; sisters, Hazel Douglas, Gladys Firebaugh of Augusta.
Memorial contributions can be made to PEO Cottey College or the Augusta United Methodist Church.
