Douglass resident's service Wednesday
Glen Charles Young, 56, of Douglass, died Sunday, July 24.
His graveside memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m Wednesday at Richland Cemetery. Hilyard-Smith Mortuary in Douglass is in charge of service arrangements.

Erwin burial in Leon Cemetery
Mabel (Wooden) Erwin, 92, of McLeansboro, Ill., died Monday, July 25. She was a former resident of Wichita.
A graveside service will be held in Leon Cemetery at 1 p.m. Thursday.
Erwin, a homemaker, is survived by two sons, Kenneth of Wichita, Carroll of Marion, Ill.; daughter, Betty Switzer of Wichita; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren.
Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro is in charge of service arrangements.

Dorothy Spencer died July 25
Dorothy (Wheeler) Spencer, 87, sister of Glen Wheeler and Ethel Cody of Augusta, died Monday, July 25.
Her service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Belle Plaine United Methodist Church.
In addition to her brother and sister, she is survived by three sons, Harold Slack, Howard Slack, both of Wellington, Dale Slack of Granville, Ohio; daughters, Freda Conwell of Wichita, Wilma White of Wellington; stepson, Don Spencer of Belle Plaine; stepdaughters, Joy Hess of Belle Plaine, Kay Sprout of Peck; brother, Leon Wheeler Jr. of Palm Springs, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; 14 stepgrandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 15 stepgreat-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Belle Plaine United Methodist Church.
Oliver Funeral Service in Oxford is in charge of arrangements.

Service tomorrow for Mark Upton
Mark A. Upton, 32, of rural Augusta, died Monday, July 25.
His service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Byrd-Snodgrass Funeral Home in Wichita.
Upton, a window washer, is survived by a son, Michael of Temple, Texas; daughters, Melissa of Temple, Ashley of Wichita;
mother and stepfather, Alice and Pat Z. Holmes of Augusta; brothers, Jerry Maskrid, Barney Jr. of Dallas, Tyrone S. of Rochester, N.Y., Michael S. of Cleveland; sisters, Lynn Martin, Teresa Darling; grandmother, Dorothy L. Boyer, all of Wichita.

Maxwell service in Mulvane
Glenn E. Maxwell, 72, of Mulvane, died Wednesday, July 27. He was the father of Albert Maxwell of Douglass.
His service is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Senter-Smith Mortuary in Mulvane.
Maxwell was a retired Beech Aircraft Corp. welder.
In addition to his son, he leaves a wife, Pearl; daughters, Delores Miller of Kent, Wash., Melba Jean Carroll of Mulvane; brothers, Leroy of Caldwell, Leland of Concord, Okla.; sisters, Afton Marie Harviston of Athens, Texas, Wanda Bilemire of Louisiana; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Marion Bailey died at Wesley
Marion Louis Bailey, 71, of Wichita died at HCA-Wesley Medical Center Sunday, July 31.
The funeral will be Wednesday morning at 10 at Elmwood Cemetery here with David King officiating.
Bailey was born Sept. 6, 1916 to Louis Arthur Bailey and Jessie Gladys Shafer. He was employed by Sheltered Blind.
Survivors include a brother, Melvin of Augusta; and a sister, Marjorie Varner of Lyndon.

Everett D. Gass
Retired grocer Everett D. Gass of Kerrville, Texas, formerly of Augusta, died Saturday, July 30.
His funeral service will be 10 o’clock tomorrow morning at the El Paso Cemetery in Derby.
The Smith Mortuary of Derby is in charge of arrangements.

Douglass resident died July 26
Jack B. Headley, 52, of Douglass, died Tuesday, July 26, at William Newton Memorial Hospital in Winfield.
A graveside service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Douglass Cemetery.
Headley was born Feb. 21, 1936, to James and Pearl (Jeffrey) Headley in Wichita.
He was a 1955 graduate of Douglass High School, attended Kansas State University and served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked in Atlanta, Ga. as a secretary-treasurer for Lamar Chevrolet dealership.
He was a member of the Douglass United Methodist Church.
He is survived by two brothers, Jim of San Antonio, Texas, Carl of Belle Plaine; two sisters, Dorothy Redmond, Della Jacobs, both of Wichita.
A memorial has been established with the Lifeline Program at William Newton Memorial Hospital in Winfield. Miles Memorial Chapel in Winfield is in charge of service arrangements.

Mother died Friday
Helen V. Krauss, 84, Wichita, mother of Charles Krauss, Augusta, died Friday, July 29.
A memorial service was held Saturday evening at the Cochran Mortuary in Wichita.
Survivors include sons Charles of Augusta, Eugene Jacobs of Liberty, Mo., and Edgar Jacobs of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters, Alethea Krauss and Marlene Berry, both of Wichita, and Hazel Bacher of Verona, Mo.; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
