Augustan’s mother dies at hospital
Merna L. Kirkpatrick, 87, El Dorado, mother of Donald E. Kirkpatrick of Augusta, died Sunday, July 31, at Susan B. Allen Hospital in El Dorado.
Her funeral service will be 2:30 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at the Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado with Rev. Chester Bodenhamer officiating. Burial will be in the Leon Cemetery.
She was born April 29, 1901 in Iola, Ill., as a daughter of William and Carrie Smith Finley.
In addition to the son here, she leaves two more sons, William Raymond of El Dorado and Edward E. of Seminole, Okla.; a daughter, Vera Tong of Leon; three brothers, Percy Finley of Milwaukee, Wisc., D.B. Finley of Winfield, and Vernie Finley of Latham; a sister, Verda Hart of Latham; 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Kirkpatrick, in 1965.
Memorials to the American Heart Association have been suggested.

William Pribbenow dies at age 102
Retired minister William F. Pribbenow, 102, Rose Hil, died Thursday, July 28.
His funeral was this afternoon at the Rose Hill Friends Church.
Pribbenow leaves his wife, Allene; a son, William Ferol of Rose Hill; a daughter, Annabel Ames of Chula Vista, Calif.; a brother, Frantz of Beaverton, Ore.; a sister, Sophia of Stillwater, Okla.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established at the Rose Hill Friends Church.
The Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home of Douglass was in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Green dies in Wichita
Dorothy Lucille Green, 66, of Augusta died Friday, July 29, at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
Her funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, in the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel here. Rev. Frank Miller will officiate and burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
Green was born Oct. 10, 1921 in Magna City to Alva Bert LaFevre and Grace Pearl Conrad.
She married Melvin Eugene Green, June 1, 1941 in Augusta. He survives.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Keller of Lyons and Carla Spillman of Houston; two
brothers, Clarence LeFevre of El Dorado and Francis LeFevre of San Fransisco; two sisters, Fern Roth and Stella Smith, both of Wichita; and three grandchildren.
Green was a retired sheet metal worker at Beech Aircraft. She belonged to the Church of the Nazareen and the Golden B. Club of Beech.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Associaiton and the First Church of the Nazarene.

Gerald McGinnis died on Sunday
Gerald R. McGinnis, 82, of Wichita and father of Robert S. McGinnis of Augusta, died Sunday, July 31, at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita His funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at the Bethany United Methodist Church in Wichita with Rev. George Goudie of the First Southern Baptist Church here officiating. Burial will be in the Resthaven cemetery.
He was born Feb. 25, 1906 in Linden, Iowa, as a son of Robert S. and Gertrude Holloway McGinnis.
In addition to the son here, he leaves another son, Richard of Los Angeles, Calif.; a brother, Howard of Steamwood, Ill.; a sister, Lena Belle Bock of Clear Lake, Iowa; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society have been suggested.
The Broadway Mortuary of Wichita is in charge of
arrangements.

Rites pending for John Hime
John Hime, 81, of Augusta, died this morning at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral arrangements are pending at the Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta.

Thelma Wilcox dies in Atchison
Thelma Wilcox, 79, of Atchison and mother of Clarence Wilcox of Augusta, died Sunday, July 31, at the Cray Manor nursing facility in Atchison.
Her funeral service was today at the Becker-Stanton Mortuary in Atchison with Rev. Gary Munion of the United Methodist Church officiating and burial in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Severance.
She was born Dec. 2, 1908 in Vliets as a daughter of thomas and Lavina Hardin Turley.
On April 26, 1924, she and Homer Wilcox were married in East St. Louis, Ill. He preceded her in death in 1978.
Mrs. Wilcox was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and War Mothers.
In addition to the son here, she leaves another son, Harold of Atchison; a daughter, Jean Bechtold of Hiawatha; 15 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, eight sisters and one brother.
Memorials to the United Methodist Church and/or the American Cancer Society have been suggested.
