Nell P. Sparks service Tuesday
Nell Pauline Sparks, 87, died today at the Augusta Medical Complex. She had been a resident of AMCI’s Long Term Care Unit since September of 1985.
Graveside services will be on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 10:30 a.m. at the White Chapel Cemetery in Wichita. Rev. Robert Moser will be officiating.
She was born on Aug. 30, 1901 in Olney, Ill.
She married the late Grover Sparks in El Dorado in 1919.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Christine Peterson of Alamo, Calif., and Tom Hunter of Cheyenne, Wy.; and one great-niece, Caron Kofoid of Augusta.

Theron G. Crozier burial Wednesday
Theron G. Crozier, 64, of Douglass died Saturday, Sept. 3.
Services will be Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 10 a.m. at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home in El Dorado.
He was born on Dec. 18, 1923 to Lester and Rachel Irene Garves of Pleasanton.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma; sons, Larry, Theron Gordon, Ray, all of Pittsburg; daughter, Tina Marie McColpin of Tonkawa, Okla.; step-sons, Larry Shook of Douglass, herold Schook of Rose Hill; brother Dale, sister, Freda Beeson, both of Missouri; 10 grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
No memorials have been established.

Graveside service for Lester Patten
Lester Everett Patten, 74, of Augusta died Monday, Sept. 5, at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Graveside services will be Thursday, Sept. 8, at 11 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery.
Lester was born on April 26, 1914 to Charles Wesley Patten and Lillie Belle Mock in Jennings, Okla.
He married Evelyn Riggs in Wellington on April 21, 1938, she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Glenn and Don both of Augusta; daughter Marilyn Truby of Wichita; brothers James Leo of Jennings, Okla., Dennis Eugene of Bellflower, Calif, and Charles Wesley, Jr. of Glencoe, Okla.; sisters Velma Belle Reed of Orergon, Ohio and Donnella Smith of San Jacinto, Calif.; grandchildren, Brenda Maier, Marvin Patten, Curtin Patten, Doug Truby and three great-grandchildren.

Augustan’s sister died Sunday
Adeline M. (Dechant) Zimmerman, 70, of Wichita and sister of Alice Legleiter of Augusta died Sunday, Sept. 4.
A rosary will be held Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 7:30 p.m. and services will be Thursday morning at 11, both at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Other survivors, besides her sister from here, include one son Robert Jr. of Wichita; daughters, Pamela Smith of Mesa, Ariz., Brenda Patterson of Wichita; brothers, Bill Dechant, Richard Dechant, Walter Dechant, all of Hays, Gene Dechant of Wichita; sisters, Joshphine Legleiter, Stella VonFeldt, both of Hays, Marchella Zimmerman of Wichita, Eleanor King of Denver, Mabel Riedel of Walker and three grandchildren.
Memorials have been suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Andover man died Sunday
Gene Lewis Wiklund, 56, of Andover died Sunday, Sept., 4.
Service was today at Dunsford chapel and burial was in the Andover Cemetery.
He was born on July 19, 1932, to the now deceased, Walter Eugene Wiklund and Flossie A.
Wright in Bonner Springs.
In 1969 he married Gladys M. Herren in Blue Mound.
Survivors include three sons, Bob, David, Walter, all of Andover; three daughters, Tabitha, Helen Lumpkin, both of Andover, Janet Wiklund of Kansas City; brother, Norman of Kansas City; his mother and five grandchildren.
Memorials have been suggested to the Butler County Special Olympics.

Showalter of Rose Hill buried Saturday
Esther Mae Showalter, 78, of Rose Hill and sister to Adrian Hall of Douglass, died Thursday, Sept. 1.
Services were Saturday at the Rose Hill Church of Christ.
Other survivors include her daughters Eloise Thomas of Dighton, Carolyn Sheets of Great Bend; one sister, Grace Wallace of Wichita; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorials have been suggested to the Rose Hill Church of Christ and the Rose Hill Senior Citizens Club.
