Brandon burial to be tomorrow
Unavie “Eunice” Brandon, 60, of Douglass died Saturday, Oct. 29.
Graveside services will be tomorrow morning at 11 in the Douglass Cemetery. Rev. Allan W. Jones will officiate.
She was born on July 16, `928
to John and Della (Finley) Rush in Melbourne, Ark.
In 1972 she married Clayton Brandon in Maize. He survives.
Other survivors include her sons, Wayne Barker of Douglass, Dennis Barker of Latham; daughter, Darlene Johnson of Goddard; brothers, Otto Rush of Douglass, John Rush of Augusta, Ray Rush of Evening Shade, Ark., Robert Rush of Jacksonville, Fla., Hayden Rush of Bates, Ark.; sisters, Mae Wolf, Imodean Asmussen, both of Augusta; half-brothers, Coy Rush and Rufford Rush, both of Melbourne; half-sister, Vida Moser, of Melbourne; and nine grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with the American Cancer Society.

George Burkhart died Saturday
George E. Burkhart, 80, of
Augusta died Saturday, Oct. 29, at St. Joseph Hospital in Wichita.
Services will be at 2 Tuesday afternoon at Dunsford Chapel. Burial will be in the Elmwood
Cemetery and Rev. Lyle Malcom
will officiate.
He was born on April 1, 1908 in Oswego to Elias and Addie Mae (Bailey) Burkhart.
George married Ethel Lorene Francis on Jan. 3, 1933 in Newkirk, Okla. She survives.
Other survivors include his son, Gary Burkhart of Ulysses; daughter, Kolene Luper of Augusta, brother, Frank Burkhart of Arcadia, Calif.; sister, Edith Hughes of Wellington; six grandsons, Darren, Dustin, and Cory Burkhart of Ulysses, Steve Luper of Augusta, Kirk Luper of Wichita, Craig Luper of Tulsa, Okla.; three great-grandsons; and one great-great- granddaughter.
George is a member of the First Church of God and of the Oddfellows Lodge.
Memorials have been established with the First Church of God.

Burial for Scott was held today
Garry W. Scott, 47, of El Dorado and brother of Mike Scott of Augusta, died Monday Oct. 31.
His services were today and burial was in Sunset Lawns Cemetery at El Dorado.
On April 24, 1941 he was born to Curtis Eugene and Eva (MacK-ay) Scott in Wichita.
He married Sharon on May 20, 1959 in Augusta. She survives.
Other survivors, besides his wife and brother from here, include son, Rick; daughter, Crystal Harvey, both of El Dorado; brother, Bob of Wichita; stepsister, Becky Miles of Garden City; and three grandchildren.
Garry Scott was a member of the Pentecostal Lighthouse Church and served in the Navy for 10 years.

Augustan’s mother burial in Emporia
Florence Kitty Thornton, 86, of Emporia and mother of Lawrence Thornton of Augusta, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, at the Augusta Medical Complex Long Term Care Unit.
Graveside services will be held on Friday morning at 10:30 at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Emporia.
She was born to Fred U. and Nancy G. (Osborn) Hedinger on June 14, 1902 in Canton.
On Dec. 25, 1927 she was united in marriage to Charles Otis Thornton.
Florence Thornton, a life-time member of the Emporia First United Methodist Church, was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, on March 4, 1982.
Survivors include her son, Lawrence of Augusta; brother, Jack Hedinger of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three grandchildren, Phillip Thornton of Emporia, Kimberly Gould of Honolulu, Hawaii, Melisa Taylor of Mesa, Ariz.; and six great-grandchildren.
Florence was a member of the B.P.O.E Chapter C.G., Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority and Eubank Women’s Church Circle.
Memorials have been suggested to the Emporia State University Endowment Association.
