Dodson burial set for Monday
Herschael R. Dodson, 76, of Augusta died Thursday, Nov. 3.
Services will be Monday morning at 10:30 at the Quiring-Old Mission Mortuary.
He was born on Aug. 10, 1912 in Enid, Okla, to Charles Edward and Bertha Ann (Lusher) Dodson.
Herschael’s wife Mary preceded him in death on Nov. 16, 1984.
Survivors include his son, Gene of Seaside, Calif.; daughter, Florence Brandon of Wichita; brother, Arther of Augusta; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Quiring-Old Mission Mortuary in Wichita has the arrangements.

Shane Peat died yesterday
Shane M. Peat, 8-year-old son of Tina Cone and Stepson of Jim Cone and Richard and Donna Peat, all of Wichita, died Thursday, Nov. 3, of injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
Services are pending.
Other survivors include stepbrother, Brian Cone, stepsister, Cherise Cone, both of Wichita; grandparents Glen and Joyce Chalmers of Beaumont, Texas; great-grandmother, Hattie Chalmers of Augusta; stepgrandparents, Harold and Marge Cone of Oklahoma City, Okla., Lila Cone of Wichita; step-great-grandmothers, Rhoda Evans of Augusta, and Arria Dees of Wichita.
Lakeview Mortuary has the arrangements.

Rawlings’ mother passed away
Mrs. Russell Hylton, of Seymore, Mo. and mother of Ruth Rawlings of Augusta, died.
Her services are pending.

Jimmy L. Spencer
Jimmy L. Spencer, 60, Douglass, died this morning at the William Newton Hospital in Winfield.
Funeral arrangements are pending with the Miles Memorial Chapel in Winfield.

Former Augustan to be buried in Elmwood Cemetery
Doris R. Berner, 73, of rural Joplin, Mo. and former Augusta, died Thursday, Nov. 10.
Her services will be tomorrow afternoon at 2 at the Elmwood Cemetery here in Augusta. Officiating will be Rev. George R. Goudie.
She was born to John E. and Inez (Peebles) Aitkens in Eureka on Jan. 12, 1915.
Doris married John Berner on Aug. 5, 1935 in Winfield. He preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 1975. Her son Joseph O. also preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters, Carol Keplar and Karen Tuggle both of Joplin, Judy Thornton of Santa Paula, Calif., Alma Johnson of Camp Verde, Ariz., Doris Follis of Kansas City, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
She is a former member of the Southern Baptist Church in Augusta and the VFW Auxiliary.
Mason-Woodard Funeral Home in Joplin has the arrangements.

Douglass man buried today
Jimmy L. Spencer, 60, of Douglass died Friday, Nov. 11.
His services were today at the First Christian Church with Rev. Dell Valentine officiating.
Spencer was born on July 2, 1928 to Jesse L. and Alice (Bourlon) Spencer on a farm near Oklahoma City.
On June 29, 1947 he and Wanda L. Gillum were united in marriage at the First Christian Church in Douglass.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda; daughter, Tootsie White of Douglass; brothers, Albert of Oklahoma City, Ray of Argonia, Jesse of Douglass, Virgil of Rock; sisters, Viola Richardson of Chickasha, Okla., Ruby Boswell of Ninnekah, Okla., Colene Langan of Bellingham, Wash., Annabell Ross of Winfield, Goldie Dean of Dublin, Texas, Carolyn Wolfe of Lindsay, Okla.; and two grandchildren.
Memorials have been suggested to the Douglass High School wrestling program.
Miles Memorial Chapel in Winfield has the arrangements.

Augustan’s brother died on Friday
Leonard G. Gardner, 80, of Halstead and brother of Claude Gardner of Augusta, died Friday,
Nov. 11.
His services were today.
Other survivors, besides his brother from here, include wife, LaVonta; daughter, Loretta Ashley of Halstead; brother, Virgil of Anadarko, Okla.; sister, Hester Barbee of Anadarko; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with the Harvey County Hospice, Newton and First United Methodist Church, Halstead.
