Monday, November 28, 1988
Douglass woman’s father passed away
Charles Madison, 73, of Oxford and father of Sylvia Briley of Douglass, died Thursday,
Nov. 24.
His funeral services were today at Oliver Funeral Home.
Other survivors include wife, Mary; sons, Donald of Iola, Robert of Oxford; daughter, Martha Nash of Oxford; brothers, Harold of Tujunga, Calif, Wesley of Oxford, James of Winfield; sisters, Betty Cole of Seattle, Wash., Wilma Bynum of Council Grove; and 10 grandchildren.
Memorials have been suggested to the Oxford Christian Church.

Douglas Brandt burial tomorrow
Douglas Neil Brandt, 36, of Augusta died Sunday, Nov. 27.
His services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Dunsford Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Burl Allison and burial will be in the Cumberland Cemetery.
On July 28, 1952 he was born to Dolan and Joyce (Wilson) Brandt in Wichita.
Survivors include his brother, Duke of Augusta; sister, Julie of_
Augusta; parents, Dolan and Joyce of Augusta; and grandmother, Vivian Wilson of Augusta.
Memorials have been suggested to Valley Hope at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Dunsford Funeral Home has the arrangements.

Friends, relatives attend Wise funeral
Out of towm relatives attending the funeral of Norman Wise were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wise, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Wise and Mindy, Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Lee Wise and Sammy Jo, all of Crete, Neb.; Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Wise of Lakewood, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Nutlycomb of Logan; Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Wirli Hodge, all of Phillipsburg; Mr and Mrs. Bob Wise and Connie, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Peyton, all of Towanda; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Edmonds of McAlester, Okla.; Mr. and Mrs. Tony Sandoval of Venice, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Martin and Steve of Checotah, Okla.; Mr. and Mrs.
John Gilbert and Danny of Evansville, Wyo.; Cindy Wise and friend of Kentucky; and Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Shumate of Winfield.
A host of friends from the Wichita area also attended.

Alice Carnes buried in Norton
Alice Carnes, 68, of Augusta died at St. Francis Hospital on Nov. 19.
Her services were held Nov. 23 at the Enfield Funeral Home in Norton. Interment was at the Norton Cemetery.
She was born Jun. 30, 1920 in Washington County to William H. and Lilly Adams Wells.
On May 18, 1939 she married Roscoe Carnes in Norton.
Alice was a member of the Methodist church and the American Legion Auxiliary of which she was a past president.
Survivors include her husband, Roscoe of the home; a daughter, Glenda and husband Carl Davis of Augusta; one grandson, David Alan Sweigart of San Diego, Calif; two brothers, Harold E.
Wells of Boise, Idaho, Robert Wells of Bend, Ore.; two sisters, Helen Setnor of Topeka and Marjorie Stenger of Wichita.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Joseph Alan; three brothers, William, Floyd, and Roy; two sisters, Laura Trotter and Evelyn Kipper.
Memorials have been suggested to the American Lung Association.

Augustan’s sister died yesterday
Alta (Long) Saunders, 76, of Wichita and sister of Augustan Celesta Sloderbeck, died Wednesday, Nov. 30.
Her services were today at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Interment was in the Park Cemetery in Wichita.
She was born Aug. 23, 1912 in Oklahoma.
Preceding her in death were her husband, mother and father, two brothers, and one sister.
Survivors include sister, Twila Long of Wichita, and Sloderbeck of Augusta.
A memorial has been established with St. John’s Episcopal Church in Wichita.
Quiring-Old Mission Mortuary has the arrangements.

Services for Wolfe’s brother
William J. Boldenow, 88, retired school custodian and Missouri Pacific Railroad machinist died Tuesday.
His services were today at the Zion Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; son, Willard K. of Hutchinson; daughter, Bonita Black of Emporia; sisters, Ida Brock of Wichita, Elfrieda Wolfe of Augusta, Irene Waldie of San Bernardino, Calif.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials have been suggested to the Zion Lutheran Church.
Pertersen Funeral Home has the arrangements.
