Father dies in Texas
Joe Mikeska, 72, of Guy, Texas, and father of Betty Crum of Augusta, died Sunday, Dec. 25.
His services were today at 2 p.m. at the Garmany-Carden Funeral Home in Needville, Texas.
Other survivors include his wife, Olga; son, James of Guy; daughters, Nancy Chapman of Wharton, Texas, Betty Crum from Augusta, Jo Ann Mikeska of Kingwood, Texas; one brother, Clavin Mikeska of Houston, Texas; sisters, Vlasta Serovec of Wharton, Viola Spalding of Portala Valley, Calif., Leona Wilhite of Creedmore, Texas, Dorothy Eversole of Hitchcock, Texas; and five grandchildren, Chris and Chad Crum, Kelly Chapman, and Meghan and Justin Mikeska.
Joe was born July 12, 1916 in Texas to Joe Henry and Pauline (Sitta) Mikeska.
Memorials have been suggested to the American Cancer Society.

David O. Holt died Dec. 21
David O. Holt, 65, of Leon died Wednesday, Dec. 21.
His services were 2 p.m. today at the Leon Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Edith; sons, Arthur of Douglass, Bob of Leon, Dale at home, Eldon, Michael, both of Fayetteville, Ark.; daughter, Sue Miller of Wichita; mother, Hazel of Leon; brothers, Carson of Leon, Clarence of Zapata, Texas; sister, Rosanna Shields of Wichita; nine grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.
Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado has the arrangements.

Augustan’s sister was buried today
Lana T. (Turner) Clark, 48, of Atlanta and Boeing Military Airplane Co. employee, died Thursday, Dec. 22.
She is the sister of Leon Turner of Augusta and her services were today at 2 p.m. at the Atlanta Christian Church.
Other survivors, besides her brother from here, include son, Kelly M. of Arkansas City; daughter, Jenny Haunschild of of Burden; and father, Albert Turner of Socorro, N.M.

Andover man’s father died in Hutchinson
George E. Miller, 86-year-old farmer from Hutchinson died Friday, Dec. 23.
Survivors include his wife, Faye; son, Charles of Andover; daughter Carolyn Bass of Buhler, six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
There will be no service for Miller but a memorial has been established with the American Heart Associaiton.
Johnson and Sons Funeral Home has the arrangements.

Sister dies in Great Bend
L. Margaret (Roush) Raynes,
66, a homemaker from Great Bend and sister of Albert Roush of Augusta, died Monday, Dec.
26.
Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at Fryberger Mortuary.
Other survivors, besides her brother from here, include her husband, Arlis; son, Clinton A. of Shawnee; daughter, Doris Schartz of Larned; brothers,
Clark Roush of Iola, Earl Roush of Murdock; sister, Elsie Huckabee of Middletown, Idaho; and seven grandchildren.
Memorials have been suggested to Serenity Hospice.

Gallardo mother died in Howard
Josefino F. Gallardo, 81, of Howard and mother of Henry Gallardo Jr. of Augusta, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, at her home.
A rosary will be held Friday evening at 7 in the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moline. Saturday at 10 a.m. there will be a mass also at St. Mary's. Burial will follow at Mr. Olivette Cemetery in Moline.
She was born to Jose and Lucia (Perez) Fabian in Lerdo, Durango Mexico on Sept. 10, 1907.
On Jan. 21, 1928 she was united in marriage to Enrique Gallardo in Chicago.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; four sons, Richard of Wichita, Henry Jr. of Augusta, Anthony of Valparaiso, Ind., John of Winfield; seven daughters, Beatrice Aguilera of Wichita, Carmen Chavez of Osage City, Mary Leddy of Saline, Mich., Amelia Hall and Gloria West, both of Wichita, Socorro Montgomery and Theresa Kerr, both of Howard; sister, Lola Gomez of Chicago; 32 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Memorials have been suggested to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard has the arrangements.
