Former Augustan buried in Texas
Mildred Ruby Hillman, 74, of Lancaster, Texas and formerly of Augusta, passed away.
Her services were Jan. 13 at Byrum Funeral Chapel in Lancaster. Pat Farish officiated and burial was in the Edgewood Cemetery.
She was born Nov. 11, 1914 in Granite, Okla, to Mr. and Mrs. Claude Weathers.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence E.; two daughters, Sharon Dickinson of Lancaster, Patricia Ann Hensley of Midland, Texas; sisters, Opal Martin of Arizona, Thelma Hataway of Oklahoma, Louise Weathers of Dallas, Texas; and two grandchildren.

Wattenbarger dies at AMCI
Retired lay minister La Vaughn Wattenbarger, 92, of 326 Broadway, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, at Augusta Medical Complex.
Her funeral service will be 2 o’clock Friday afternoon, Jan. 20, at the First United Methodist Church of Augusta with Rev. Harold Kieler officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
She was born Aug. 28, 1896 in Ava, Mo., as a daughter of George Lincoln Sargent and Jessie Flower Sargent.
She was married to George Wattenbarger who preceded her in death in 1971.
Survivors include a daughter, Doris Mitchell of Augusta; a brother, Glenn Sargent of North Little Rock, Ark., four grandchildren (Tom Mitchell of Houston, Texas; Warren Wattenbarger of Bremerton, Wash.; Bill Wattenbarger of Manchester, Ga., and Donna Chastain of Oklahoma City, Okla.), 10 great-
grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son.
Memorials to the United Methodist Church building fund haave been suggested.
Friends may view at the Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta until Friday noon. The casket will be closed at the service.

Annabelle Liddy dies in Whitewater
Annabelle Libby, 76, Whitewater, died Monday, Jan. 16, at Wheatstate Manor nursing home in Whitewater.
Her funeral service will be Friday, Jan. 20, at 11 a.m. at the Grace Baptist Church, Whitewater, with ministers Don Wiens and Mike Schepis officiating.
Burial will follow at the Wichita Park Cemetery, Wichita.
Libby is survived by a son,
Edmund Libby of Whitewater; three daughters, Norma H. Higgins of Salt Lake City, Utah, Ruth E. Oswald and Joy L. Olsen, both of Wichita; two brothers, Dale Nighswonger of Silver Lake and Robert Nighswonger, Springdale, Ark; 10 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials have been suggested to the Alzheimer’s Disease & Related Disorders Association or the Grace Baptist Church, Whitewater.

Beulah D. Lee died on Thursday
Beulah D. (Covey) Lee, 89, of Conway Springs, businesswoman, housewife and mother of a rural Augustan, died Thursday, Jan. 19.
Her services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Funeral Home in Wichita. Burial will be the in the Rose Hill Cemetery and Rev. Harold Kieler and Rev. Burr Crickard will officiate.
She was born July 28, 1899 near Waldron to George and Daisy Covey.
Survivors include son, Robert E. of Hutchinson; daughter, Sara Ralston of Augusta; sisters, Nettie Jack of Amorita, Okla. Lottie Kratzer of Redonda Beach, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Charles V., and son, Charles Jr., preceded her in death.
Memorials are suggested to the Augusta United Methodist Church and Mitchell Chapel United Methodist Church in Hutchinson.

Funeral held at local chapel
Lorna May Meadows. 74, of Wichita died Saturday at HCA Wesley Medical Center.
Her funeral was today at the Dunsford Chapel with burial at Elmwood Cemetery.
She was born to William F. and Opal May (Lenover) Furthmyer in Russell on July 27, 1914.
On Nov. 22, 1937 she was united in marriage to Charles Warren Meadows in Stillwater, Okla. He preceded her in death in July 1961.
Survivors include one daughter, Lorna Tune of Wichita; sister, Pearl Arrasmith of Whitewater; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Leona M. Carpenter
Leona M. Carpenter, 97, of Wichita, homemaker, and grandmother of Augusta residents, died Monday, Jan. 23.
Her funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cochran Mortuary in Wichita.
Survivors include granddaughter, Kathryn Brooks of Augusta; great-grandsons, Roger L. Williams of Benton, Richard E. Brooks of Augusta; and one great-great-grandchild.
