Marian M. Taylor funeral Sunday
Retired bookkeeper Marian M. “Sis” Taylor, 82, of rural Augusta, died yesterday at the St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
Her funeral service will be 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Christian Church in Douglass with Rev. Dale Valentine officiating. Burial will be in the Douglass Cemetery.
She was born Feb. 6, 1907 in Douglass as a daughter of Hope and Katy Butts Taylor.
Prior to retirement, Taylor worked as a bookkeeper for Bra-nine Chevrolet at Mulvane and Douglass. She was a graduate of Tulsa University and taught school at Elbing and Leon. For the past two years, she had made
her home with her niece, Dorothy Goldenstein of rural Augusta.
Survivors included a brother, Richard “Dick” Taylor of Douglass, a sister, Ruth Wiseman of Douglass, several nieces and nephews.
Her memberships included the Douglass Christian Church, Mulvane BPW, Woodbine chapter of OES and later the Augusta OES Lodge 211. She was a past worthy matron of the Woodbine OES chapter.
Memorials to the Douglass Christian Church have been suggested.
The Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta has charge of the arrangements.
Augustan’s father dies in Abilene
Charles James Murphy, 69, Abilene, father of Mike Murphy of rural Augusta, died early today at a hospital in Abilene.
His funeral service will be Monday. The Martin Funeral Home of Abilene is in charge of arrangements.
In addition to the son here,
Murphy leaves his wife, Pauline of the home; four other sons, Tim of El Dorado, Pat and Chuck of Manhattan, and Mark of Topeka, and 16 grandchildren.

Lucille Chase rites tomorrow at chapel
Lucille Chase, 87, of Augusta and former owner of LoVellette China & Gifts, died Saturday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Her funeral will be 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon with Rev. Burl Allison Jr. officiating at the service in the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
She was born on Nov. 11, 1901 to John and Mary Nina (Nuttle) Bradshaw in Honeywell.
On June 22, 1968 she was united in marriage to Loy Chase in Wichita.
She operated the china and gift shop from 1935 to 1988.
Survivors include her husband Loy; daughter, Nina June Parry of Augusta; half-sister, Orpha Williams of Beaumont, Texas; three grandchildren, Rod Parry of Chicago, Ill., Burt Parry of Wichita, Gail Cogins of Ashland; and one niece, Joyce Chalmers of Beaumont.
Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church building fund.
Friends who wish to visit, Mr. Chase will be a Parry's home.

Burial Wednesday for Joan Metsker
Joan Metsker, 67, of rural Augusta, died Sunday, March 12, at home.
Services for Metsker will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Dunsford chapel. Rev. Paul Johnson will officiate and burial will be in the Dunlap Cemetery.
She was born to Walter J. and Nell Marie (Simmons) Nachbor on Jan. 5, 1922 in Rose Hill.
On June 20, 1940 she was united in marriage to George E. Metsker in Douglass. He preceded her in death in 1986.
Metsker, a member of the Sunflower E.H.U., is survived by sons, Dean, Dale E., both of Augusta; daughter, Kay M. Galloway of Lawrenceville, Ga.; half-brothers, Johnny Nachbor of Alabama, David Nachbor of Wichita; half-sisters, Carol McPeak of California, Kitty Martinez of Wichita; and six grandchildren.
One grandchild preceded her in death.
Memorials to the Sedgwick County or the Butler County Hospice.

Tyson services to be in El Dorado
Kenneth L. Tyson, 68, of El Dorado, died Sunday morning at the VA Hospital in Wichita.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in El Dorado at the Carlson Funeral Home with interment in the Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife, Margart of the home; daughters, Linda Hammer of Towanda, Debbie Wartick of El Dorado; brother, Howard Tyson of Wichita; sister, Maxine Hotsapillar of Wichita; and three grandchilren.
Tyson, who was born May 26, 1920 in Cairo, worked for Cessna as a modification mechanic until he retired in 1982.
Memorials to the Basic Cancer Research at Kansas State University.
