Achning dies, leaves daughter here
Independent oil producer Walter John Achning, 89, San Antonio, Texas, father of Nancy Muldoon of Augusta, died Tuesday, May 23.
His funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 25, at the Christ Episcopal Church in San Antonio with burial in Sunset Memorial Park there.
This veteran of World War I and World War II was bom Feb. 23, 1900 in Lawrence.
He married June 29, 1927 in Dallas, Texas.
Achning was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Order of The
Alamo, Argyle Club, San Antonio Country Club, South Texas Geological Society, American Association of Petroleum Geologists, and the Independent Petroleum Association of America.
In addition to the daughter here, he leaves his wife, Estelynn of the home; another daughter, Annalyn Gates of San Antonio, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The Porter-Loring Funeral Home in San Antonio is in charge of arrangements.
Eugene Delano died in Oklahoma
Eugene Avery Delano, 64, of Stillwater, Okla., died Monday, May 22, at Stillwater Medical Center.
A graveside service for Delano is scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Stillwater. Rev. Jerry Sparkman will officiate the service.
Delano was born July 1, 1924, in Cleveland, Okla., to Bill and Hattie (Bailey) Delano. On Sept. 8, 1945, he married Doris Jean Crabs. He later married Joy Hadley on July 1, 1952, in Mulvane. She survives of the home.
Delano moved to Stillwater as a small child and attended school there. He worked for Sante Fe Trailways and drove a taxi for Safeway and Yellow Cab Company.
In 1951, he moved to Wichita, working almost 20 years at Beech Aircraft and returned to Stillwater in 1970. For several years, he was a self-employed auto mechanic, well-known throughout the Augusta and Stillwater areas.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Duane of Bartlesville, Okla.; two daughters, Gloria Schafer-Bowman of Minneapolis, Minn, and Donna Wells of Stillwater; two brothers, Billy of Stillwater and Sedrick of Downers Grove, Ill.; one sister, Pam Fassnacht of Pawnee, Okla.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Delano was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Imogene, one infant daughter and one infant grandchild.

Stephen Payne died at AMCI
Augustan Stephen LeRoy Payne, 46, died Wednesday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Frank Miller officiating. Burial will follow the service in Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born to Emmet Leslie and Marie (Jones) Payne on Oct. 18, 1942 in El Dorado.
On Sept. 26, 1959 he was united in marriage to Frances Elizabeth Turner in Winfield.
Payne, a retired Knebler Construction Company employee, is survived by his wife, Frances; sons, Stephen Wayne of Lumber-ton, Texas, Thomas LeRoy, Jesse Lee, Donald Jerald, all of Augusta; father, Emmett of Arkansas; mother, Marie Gilliland of Wichita; sister, Suzanne Hiatt of Clearwater; and three grandchildren, Tommy, Nathan, and Gabriel Payne.
His daughter, Kristian Marie, preceded him in death on Oct. 7, 1986.
Dunsford Funeral Home has the arrangements.

Infant dies at Wesley Hospital
Keith Allen Brown, the infant son of Brian and Shelly Brown of Augusta, was still born at HCA Wesley Medical Center on Thursday.
Graveside services were held today at Elmwood Cemetery with Rev. George Goudie officiating.
Survivors include parents, Brian and Shelly Brown; half-sister, Tosha Lynn Brown of Rose Hill; grandparents, Jimmie and Carmel Brown of Augusta and Thomas L. and Kathleen Clifton of Benton.
