Woman died in auto accident
LaVerna Schmidt, 69, of Augusta and a nursing home examiner, died Friday, July 7, from injuries suffered in an auto accident.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Goertz Memorial Chapel, Hillsboro.
The former Army nurse is survived by two sisters, Velma Klassen of Newton and Ruby Hefley of Hillsboro.
She was born to Henry A. and Matilda Schmidt on Dec. 20, 1919 in Hillsboro.
Memorials are suggested to the Harvey County Special Olympics.
Ilo V. Fisher died at Wichita hospital
Ilo Verdelle Fisher, 77, of 1501 1/2 Ohio in Augusta, died Sunday, July 9, at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
Services for the homemaker will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Burl Allison officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Fairview Cemetery.
She was born on July 21, 1911 in rural Augusta to George H. and Zera Inez (Hines) Haskin.
On Oct. 17, 1936 she was united in marriage to Walter L. Fisher in Wellington. He preceded her in death on May 15, 1980.
She is survived by her brothers, Charles W. Haskin of Douglass, Howard H. of Chattanooga, Tenn., Darrell D., Bruce H., both of Ingleside, Texas; sister, Hazel Upton of Ingleside; and brother-in-law, James Fisher of Wichita.
Robinson service set for Tuesday
Harry I. Robinson, 87, of Dou-
glass, died Friday, July 7.
Services for the retired grocer will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Douglass United Methodist Church with burial following at the Douglass Cemetery.
He was born as a son to John and Pearl Robinson on May 23, 1902 in India Territory, Okla.
On June 14, 1928 he married Edna Meyer in Wichita.
Survivors include his wife, Edna of Douglass; brother, Erwin of El Dorado; sister, Clarice McClaran of Independence, Mo.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with the Douglass United Methodist Church and the Douglass Public Library.
Miles Memorial Chapel in Winfield has the arrangements.
Service tomorrow for Floyd Pittman
Augustan Floyd Henry “Slim” Pittman, 82, died Friday, July 7, at the Augusta Medical Complex.
He was born on Aug. 7, 1906 in Ralston, Okla. to Andrew Charles and Mary Olive (Turpin) Pittman.
In June 1937 he married Bernice Gonzales in Hutchinson. She preceded him in death and on Aug. 7, 1983 he was united in marriage to Mary Kathryn Manning in Broken Arrow, Okla.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; sons, Thomas of Seminole, Texas, Steven, Jeffrey, both of Augusta; step-sons, Troy, William McIntosh, both of Cincinnati, Ohio; step-daughters, Patricia Jones of Tulsa, Okla., Faye Webb of Charleston, W.Va.; and 13 grandchildren.
Services for the retired Boeing and oil field worker will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel at Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. George Goudie will officiate and burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.

Douglass burial for former area woman
Zero Gladys Dennis died Saturday, July 8, at the age of 88 in Emporia.
She taught school at Muddy Creek near Douglass prior to her marriage to Emory Frank Dennis on April 8, 1922 in El Dorado. He preceded her in death on July 29, 1967.
Her services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church in Emporia and burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in the Douglass Cemetery.
She was born to William A. and Ester (Asmussen) Sprague on May 23, 1901 in Chandler, Okla. and is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Memorials are to the First Baptist Church of Emporia and Roberts-Blue- Barnett Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Blair died July 4
Grace (Butts) Blair, who passed away July 4, was the late Helena Brandt’s sister and aunt of Dolan Brandt of rural Augusta.
Memorial service for H. Robinson
A memorial service will be held at the Medicalodge of Douglass for Harry Robinson, who passed away Friday at the age of 87, on Wednesday evening at 7.
