Lawton W. Ellis died on Saturday
Lawton Wesley Ellis, 71, of Augusta, died Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Veterans Hospital in Wichita.
His services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Dunsford chapel with Dr. George Boone officiating and burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born March 13, 1918 in Sylvan Grove to Robert and Dora Ellis.
On Aug. 18, 1941 he married Opal M. Wollensen in Lincoln, Neb. and she preceded him in death in 1982. Ellis was then united in marriage to Florence Wickliffe on Nov. 28, 1982 in Wichita and she preceded him in death in 1984.
Survivors include his daughters, Velma Johnson of Augusta, Valeta Ellis of Herington; brother, Rex Ellis of Columbus, Ga.; sister, Gladys Saine of Englewood, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
Ellis, a retired Andover Elementary School custodian, was a member of the Andover American Legion.
Services for Wheeler set for Tuesday
Augustan Sara Gertrude Wheeler, 84, died Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Augusta Medical Complex.
She was born to Walter and Lula Bush on Jan. 8, 1905 in Butler County and in 1940 she married Glen Wheeler, who survives.
Graveside services for the homemaker will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Benton Cemetery with Rev. Burl Allison officiating.
Dunsford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Rawlings’ sister died on Thurday
Sister of Augustan Audrey Rawlings, Harriett Louise Long, 65, of El Dorado, died Thursday.
Services were held today in Augusta’s Elmwood Cemetery.
Other survivors, besides her sister from here, include her sons, Brad of El Dorado, Bart of Dallas; sister, Joyce Ruggles of El Dorado; and three grandchildren.
A memorial has been estabished with the American Heart Association.

Elmwood burial for E. Johnson
Galveston, Texas man Everett W. Johnson, 73, died Sunday in Weimar, Texas.
His services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Dunsford chapel with burial in the Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born Sept. 21, 1915 in Ava, Mo. to John and Ariminta Johnson and on Aug. 3, 1935 he was united in marriage to Geneva Ward in El Dorado.
Survivors include his wife, Geneva; son, John W. of Galveston; daughter, Pat McDade of Galveston; mother, Ariminta of Nevada, Mo.; brothers, Jim of El Dorado, Warren of Tulsa, Okla.; sister, Betty Caldwell of Nevada; three grandchildren, John Palmer of Como, Miss., Tom Allen Johnson of Galveston, Tracie Ann Johnson of Dallas; two great-grandchildren, Lindsay and Katie Palmer of Como; and two step-grandchilren, Doug Hargis of Vincennes, Ind., Susanna Hargis of Galveston.
Memorials are to the American Heart Association.
Dunsford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Laura Andrews services Friday
Laura Mae Andrews, 73, of Leon and retired school cafeteria cook, died Tuesday.
Funeral services for Andrews will be 2 p.m. Friday at Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado.
She was born to Milard and Olive Barnes on Dec. 7, 1915 in Vici, Okla.
On Jan. 24, 1942 she was united in marriage to E.B. Andrews in Wichita.
Survivors include her husband, E.B.; brother, Bill Barnes of Hemet, Calif.; sister, Pauline Goodwin of El Dorado.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.
Services for the homemaker will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Greenwich Road Church of Christ with burial in the Belle Plaine Cemetery at 11:30 a.m.
Other survivors include sons, Marine of Derby, Noble of Bums, Carman of Chattanooga,
Tenn.; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Memorials are to the Maude Carpenter Children’s Home and the Greenwich Road Church of Christ.
Downing & Lahey Mortuary in Wichita are in charge of the arrangements.
Former Augustan died this morning
Former Augustan Fern Rowe, 60, of Conroe, Texas, died today.
Her services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Worley Funeral Home in Grove, Okla.
She was survived by her husband, Morris Rowe Jr.; son, Jon Rowe of Houston, Texas; daughter, Susan Rowe of Albuquerque, N.M.; and nieces, Clara Miller and Hazel Kinsley, both of Augusta.
