Graveside services for Willie Houston
Willie William Houston, 65, of Augusta, died at home Tuesday, Aug. 22.
Graveside services for the retired Boeing Military Airplanes employee will be 10 a.m. Friday in the Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born to George W. and Luvernia Houston on May 22, 1924 in Haywood, Okla. On Feb. 14, 1952 he married Thelma Lois Dennett in Oklahoma.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma; son, Ronnie of Topeka; daughters, Jodie Houston of Augusta, Judy Houston, Debora Carter, Tina Houston, all of Wichita; sisters, Rose Meier of Edmond, Okla., Dorothy Griffith of Mid West City, Okla.; and seven grandchildren.
Dunsford Funeral Home is in of the arrangements.

Former Augustan died on Aug. 14
Ralph Edgar Kipers, 75, of Lebanon, Mo., and formerly of Augusta, died Monday, Aug. 14.
On Feb. 27, 1914 he was born to J.J. and Lola Kipers in Cassoday. He was united in marriage with Phyllis Huerth on Dec. 18, 1965.
The 1935 Augusta High School graduate is survived by his wife, Phyllis of the home; daughters, Jeanette Scott, Carolyn Kipers, both of Galesburg, Mich.; step-sons, James and Donald Smishek, both of Conway, Mo.; step-daughters, Dorothy Dismang of Blue Springs, Mo., Shirley Randolph of Independence, Mo., Joanne Jackson of Grand Prairie, Texas; four brothers, M.C. of Carson City, Nev., Jesse of the stale of Washington, Paul of Gresham, Ore., Kilbourn of Phoenix, Ariz.; two granddaughters; 10 step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Joe.
His services were held Thursday, Aug. 17, at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church under the direction of Colonial Chapel.
Kipers was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam.

Former Augustan to be buried here
Hilda C. Voran, 95, of Newton and formerly of Augusta, died Thursday.
She was born March 26, 1894 to Carl and Elizabeth VanDerSmissen in Summerfield, Ill. On June 18, 1918 she married Chris D. Voran in Berne, Ind. He preceded her in death in 1984.
Survivors include her son, Jim of Miami, Fla.; daughter, Carolyn Roby of Wichita; sisters, Frieda Andreas of Newton, Elizabeth Clemmer of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Edna Cowsert of Junction, Texas, Ruth Johnson of Hunting-ton, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services for the homemaker will be 10 a.m. Monday in the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Burl Allison officiating. Burial will follow the services in Elmwood Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the First United Methodist Church.

Douglass woman died on Thursday
Barbara L. Keely, 66, of Douglass, died Thursday.
Graveside services will be held in the Douglass Cemetery at 5:30 p.m. Monday under the direction of Hilyard-Smith Mortuary.
She was born to Victor H. and Effie H. Keely on June 19, 1923.
Survivors include one nephew, Alan Keely of Douglass; and one niece, Linda Criman of Wichita.
Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church of Douglass.

Gilbert Hatfield service tomorrow
Gilbert James Hatfield, 79, of Wichita and formerly of Arkansas City, died Saturday, Aug. 26.
His services will be held at the First Church of the Brethem in Wichita at 10:30 Tuesday morning. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in the Riverview Cemetery, Arkansas City.
He was born to James A. and Bertha Hatfield on May 12, 1910 in Caldwell.
Survivors include his brothers, Ernest of Fritch, Texas, Marvin of Arkansas City, and Dick of Wichita; sisters, Leona Chambers of Oklahoma City and Dorothy Kenney of Cedar Vale.
Memorials are suggested to either the First Church of the Brethern or the V.F.W. youth activities in Arkansas City.
