McGee’s mother died in Winfield
Mother of Augustan Howard R. McGee, Velma M. McGee. 77, of Winfield, died Tuesday.
Other survivors, besides her son from here, include son, Gerald D. McGee of Monroe, Iowa; sister, Mrs. Harvey Ridings of Winfield; six grandchildren, Alan, Jeff, Todd, Elisa, Michelle, and Michael McGee; and two great-grandchildren, Brian and Phillip McGee.
Services for the homemaker will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Miles Memorial Chapel in Winfield. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
She was born to Bertie E. and Mable Poe on March 28, 1913 in Danville. On Jan. 1, 1935 she married Hugh A. McGee.
Memorials are suggested to the Grace United Methodist Church of Winfield.

Noah Morris died Saturday
Retired Augusta banker and civic leader Noah V.R. Morris, 80, of Ventura, Calif., died Saturday, Sept. 2, in a Ventura hospital after a brief illness.
His graveside service was today, Sept. 5, at the Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura. Rev. Neal Keller, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Ventura, officiated.
Morris was born Sept. 28, 1908 in Big Timber, Mont.
He relocated to California 10 years ago after 50 years in the banking business. He retired president/chairman of the board at Augusta’s Prairie State Bank. Morris also was a member of the First United Methodist Church here and served 30 years as its treasurer.
He was a member and past president of the Augusta school board and a member/past president of the Augusta Kiwanis Club.
In Ventura, he held a membership in the First United Methodist Church as well as the Gleaners of Ventura County.
Survivors include his wife, Christine; two sons, Maynard R. Morris of La Canada, Calif., and Myron L. Morris of LaCresenta, Calif.; a brother, Gordon W. Morris, and a sister, Fauna
Mitchell, both of Wichita; and four grandchildren: Mark and Kimberly Morris of LaCanada as well as Scott and Melinda of LaCresenta.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society and/or the First United Methodist Church of Ventura have been suggested.
The Ted Mayr Funeral Home of Ventura was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Morris’ address is 1215 Anchors Way Drive, Ventura, Calif., 93003.
