Sluss funeral Saturday
Florence N. Sluss, 82, El Dorado, died Thursday, Dec. 7, at the Knutson Manor Nursing Center in El Dorado.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado.
She was born Jan. 6, 1907 at Parkersburg, W. Va., to Scott and Mary Virginia Skidmore Jones. She spent most of her life in El Dorado. She had been a book keeper for several El Dorado firms and owner of L.P. Gas Company in El Dorado.
Sluss was a member of the First United Methodist Church in El Dorado, a member of the Andrina Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and Women of the Moose.
On Jan. 29, 1939, she married Russell E. Sluss Jr. who survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Jim Sluss of El Dorado; brother J. Walter Jones of El Dorado; and two grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the First United Methodist Church in El Dorado.

Violet M. Dieckman funeral Tuesday
Homemaker Violet Mary Dieckman of Augusta died Thursday, Dec. 7, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita at age 80.
Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, in the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel here with Rev. Robert Box of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
She was born Dec. 15, 1908 in Augusta as a daughter of Charles Murphy and Augusta Neitzke Murphy.
On Nov. 30, 1930, she and William Henry Dieckman were
united in marriage during a ceremony here. He preceded her in death in 1980.
Mrs. Dieckman leaves a son, Jerry Dean of Augusta; a daughter, Barbara Jean Kramer of Augusta; two brothers, Wilbur and Richard Murphy, also of Augusta; two grandchildren, Valerie Jean Haney of Anchorage, Alaska, and Teri Lynn Dirks of Wichita, and four great-grandchildren. One sister, Marie Sanders, also preceded her in death.
Memorials to the First Baptist Church have been suggested.

Tammy Smith, 18, Chapel Hill, N.C., daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Charles Harrod of Augusta, died Tuesday, Dec. 5.
Her funeral will be 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 12, in the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Frank Miller of the First Nazarene Church officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
She was born Sept. 16, 1971 in Birmingham, Ala., as a daughter of Charles E. and Jonletta I. Kelly Harrod.
On Dec. 28, 1987, she and Gary Wayne Smith were married in Alexandria, La. He survives.
In addition to her husband the parents here she leaves two brothers, Ferris Harrod of Alabama, and Thurman Harrod of Augusta; grandparents, Wanda Harrod of Wichita, Mr. & Mrs. John Kelly of Jasper, Ala.

Memorials have been suggested to York College in York, Neb., and/or the Douglass Library of Douglass in wake of Tuesday’s death of Cyril Emerson Stewart of Augusta.

Marie L. Wiles dies in Oklahoma
Marie L. Wiles, 87, Broken Arrow, Okla., died today, Dec. 13.
A graveside service is scheduled at Elmwood Cemetery here at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon. Rev. Michael Omundson of the First Christian Church here will officiate.
She was born Dec. 29, 1901 in Gas City as a daughter of Joseph Leutey and Mabel Engle Leutey.
On June 30, 1926, she married Homer J. Wiles in Moran. He preceded her in death in 1977.
Survivors include a son, Phil Wiles of Tulsa, three brothers, one sister, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. A daughter, Lois Bennett, preceded her in death.
The Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of local arrangements.
