Lloyd Turner dies at 88
Former Cities Service employee Lloyd J. Turner, 88, Augusta, died Saturday, Dec. 30, at the El Dorado Nursing Home.
His funeral service will be 11 o’clock tomorrow, Jan. 3, at the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel with David Turner officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Turner was born April 6, 1901 in Ava, Mo., as a son of John Adam Turner and Angela Hatfield Turner.
On Feb. 26, 1919, he and Hazel Lelia Etta Towner were
united in marriage. She preceded him in death last year.
Survivors include sons, Jesse, Jack and Bill, all of Augusta; John of Clay Center, David of Douglass, Joe of Emporia, Richard of Rosalia, and Jim of Bennington; daughters, Norma Thompson and Barbara Hutson of El Dorado, Carol Gross and Lois Kilgore of Wichita, Frances Payne of Augusta and Mary Camp of Arkansas City; 59 grandchildren, 103 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
Rumpf funeral tomorrow
Former Augusta resident Elda D. Rumpf, 94, Udall, died Sunday, Dec. 31, at the William Newton Memorial Hospital in Winfield.
Her funeral service will be at 2 o’clock tomorrow afternoon, Jan. 3, at the Miles Memorial chapel in Winfield and burial will be in the Star Valley Cemetery east of Udall.
She was born April 12, 1895 east of Udall to Sidney and Ollie Mae Wilson Keely.
She was educated in the Star Valley rural school district.
On Dec. 16, 1914, she married Earl F. Rumpf. He preceded her in death in 1978.
During World War II, Mrs. Rumpf worked at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita and later for Gragg Furs of Wichita. She also worked as a nurse aide in the
Udall area.
She and her husband retired to Augusta in 1977.
She was a resident of the Good Samaritan nursing home in Winfield from 1983 to 1988. She entered the Medicalodge of Douglass in May of 1988.
During her life, Mrs. Rumpf held membership in the Congregational Church of the United Church of Christ. Memorials to the church have been suggested.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Stueven of Augusta; two brothers, Paul Keely of Winfield and Wayne Keely of Udall; 11 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Earl Jr., and a daughter, Marguerite Wilson Rumpf, and three brothers, Alva, John, and Delbert.
Sister of Augustan dies at 52
Darlene Ruth Franz, 52, Wichita, sister of June Reynolds of Augusta, died Sunday, Dec. 31.
Her funeral service is slated for 1 o’clock tomorrow afternoon, Jan. 3, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Wichita.
A memorial has been established with Hospice Inc.
In addition to the sister here, she leaves her husband, Raymond; a son, Douglas; a daughter, Diana; another sister, Christine Olsen of Seattle, Wash.; a brother, Ivan Hughes, and one grandchild.
