Augustan’s mother died Sunday
Homemaker Lonie Viola Rush, 89, Sedan, mother of Bobby Rush of Augusta, died Sunday, Dec. 31.
Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at the Greenwood Cemetery.
In addition to the son here, she leaves a daughter, Betty Tower
of Winfield; another son, Norman Rush of Winfield, and three grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the Sedan Senior Citizens Center.
The Graves-Baird Funeral Home at Sedan is in charge of arrangements.
Pangrac funneral was today
Retired high school band director Perry W. Pangrac, 85, Junction City, father of Augustan Duane Pangrac, died Friday, Dec. 29.
His funeral was today at the First United Methodist Church in Junction City and a graveside service was scheduled for the Greenville Cemetery at Niles.
Memorials to the Methodist Church have been suggested. The Johnson Funeral Home at Junction City was in charge of arrangements.
He was born Nov. 12, 1904 on a farm near Niles to Emmanuel and Maud Little Pangrac.
He attended his first eight years of schooling at the Niles Community School and graduated from Salina High School in 1925. Pangrac earned a music degree from the Kansas City Conservatory of Music in 1929.
He taught from 1930 to 1938 at
Kiowa and taught a year at Bonner Springs before relocating to Junction City in 1948. He retired from active teaching in 1971, but continued to work as a substitute for 15 years.
In addition to the son here, he leaves his wife, Bernice; a daughter, Roberta Kelly of Junction City, six grandsons, and one great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by a brother.

Carl Bechtel died Saturday
Carl E. Bechtel, 88, Allen, father of Frances Pykiet of Augusta, died Saturday, Dec. 30.
His funeral service was held this afternoon at the Allen United Methodist Church.
In addition to the daughter here, Bechtel leaves two sons, Everett of Belton, Mo., and Carl of Meade; another daughter, Faye Mulkey of Blue Springs, Mo.; nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Memorials to the Flint Hills Manor at Emporia have been suggested.
The Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home of Emporia is in charge of arrangements.
