William Mannion died Monday
Retired Mobil Oil refinery worker William Cecil Mannion, 79, died at his Augusta home, Monday, Jan. 1.
The funeral will be 2 o’clock tomorrow afternoon at the Rindt Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City. Burial will follow in Memorial Lawn Cemetary there. Rev. Frank Springer will officiate.
He was born Aug. 27, 1910, in Augusta to James Christopher and Adda Coday Mannion.
Mannion married Georgia Christine Leatherman March 15, 1941 in Ponca City, Okla. She preceded him in death on Dec. 7, 1989.
Following their marriage the couple moved to Belleville, Ill. to work for Mobil there. When that plant closed, Mannion transferred to the Augusta plant and worked there until retirement.
He is survived by two sisters, Virginia McLaughlin, and Mrs. Harley (Zella) Cowardin, both of Arkansas City, and by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a borther, Virgil Mannion.
Memorials are suggested in his name to the Central Christian Church of Arkansas City, and contributions can be made through the funeral home.
Augustan’s sister died in Texas
Theo Walker, 103, died Saturday, Dec. 30, In Dennison, Texas. She was the sister of Augustan Esther Lockwood.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 2, in Dennison.
Survivors include her sister; a daughter, Janet Manning of Dennison; three sons, Williams Walker of Dallas, Fayette Walker of Amarillo, Texas and Charlie Walker of Paris Texas.
Former resident’s baby son dies
Daniel Josepth Elliott, two-months-old, the son of former Augusta resident Michael Elliott and Robyn Elliott, New Orleans, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 1989. Services were Saturday.
Survivors include a sister, Erin Laura of the home; grandparents, Sylvia and E.J. Banta Jr., of Gret-
na, La., Barbara Newman and Doug Elliott, both of Wichita; and great-grandfather E.J. Banta Sr, of Gretna.
A memorial has been established with the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Foundation, Mothe Funeral Home, New Orleans.

William Mannion died Monday
