Wichita Man Killed In Car Accident
A 28-year-old Wichita man died in a two-vehicle accident around 8 o’clock last night.
Butler County Sheriff Dave Williams identified the victim as Carl W. Watson.
Waston is the second person to die in a vehicle accident in the last two days in the county. Rodney Duane Marten, 22, rural Towanda, died Sunday in a one-car accident near Andover.
Sheriff Williams said Watson’s 1972 Buick crossed over the center lane 1 1/2 miles east of Keighley Comer on K-96.
Watson’s vehicle collided with a flat bed truck driven by Robert D. Williams of El Dorado.
Williams suffered minor injuries.
Rescue squads based in Augusta and in El Dorado worked for around 45 minutes to extricate Watson’s body. A call for the lifewatch helicopter was canceled when the Wichita man died at the scene.
Sheriff Williams said his office is investigating the possibility of alcohol being a possible cause of the accident.
Sergeant Stan Cox and Deputy Phil Wickwire are in charge of the accident investigation.
