Brother Died Friday
Harley E. Reece, 83, Conway Springs, brother of Viola Bartholomew of Augusta, died Friday at his home.
Graveside services were at 10 a.m. today at the Milan (Kan.) cemetery.
He was born Aug. 1, 1899 in Brownington, Mo., to Dan and Olla Reece.
He married Ermal Strait March 20, 1926 in Emporia. She survives.
He was an engineer for the Missouri-Pacific Railroad before retiring in 1961. During retirement he served on the Conway Springs Police Department and as police judge.
Other survivors include a son, Harlan Reece of Conway Springs; a daughter, Vivian Crawford of Tucson, Ariz.; brothers, Bud Reece of Liberal, Estel (Red) Reece of Odessa, Texas; eight grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
The Ebersole Mortuary in Conway Springs was in charge of arrangements.
Ex-Augustan Dies At 83
J.W. “Bill” Ewalt, 83, Hialeah, Fla., formerly of Augusta, died Sunday at his home.
Arrangements are pending for Thursday in Hialeah.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.
He lived in Augusta many years before moving to Hialeah where he worked for the Greyhound Racing Association before his retirement.
Among his survivors are wife, Chlora Ewalt of the home; a son, Robert J. Ewalt of Dallas, Texas; brothers, Walter Ewalt and Ernest Ewalt, both of Augusta; sisters, Nona B. Howard, Emma Shafer, Venita Canfield, all of Augusta and Leota Euler of Topeka, and five grandchildren.
His brother, Lawrence Ewalt, died earlier this year.
W.R. Hixon
W.R. Hixon, 92, rural Iola, father of Derrel Hixon of Augusta, died this morning at his home.
Arrangements are pending Waugh-Youkum and Friskel Funeral Home in Iola.
Other survivors include five other sons, Gale Hixon of the home, Wayne Hixon and Jack Hixon, both of Iola, Bob Hixon of Skiatook, Okla., and Maurice Hixon of Sikeston, Mo.; a brother, Archie Hixon of Iola; 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Rites Pending
Donald Robertson, 76, Augusta, died this morning at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.
Rites are pending at the Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado.

Ex-Augustan Dies At 82
Edwin Rollings, 82, El Dorado, formerly of Augusta, died Monday at the Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.
His service will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home. Rev. Mark Sommerville will officiate and burial will be in the Towanda Cemetery.
He was born April 21, 1900 in El Dorado to Ezra and Alice Cherry Rollings.
He was a retired employee of the Butler County Highway Department.
Survivors include a niece, Darlene Beal of El Dorado, and a nephew, Roland Marten of Wichita.
D.B. Robertson Rites On Thursday
Donald B. Robertson, 76, Douglass, died Monday at St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita.
His service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado. Rev. Randy Gauger will officiate and burial will be in the Walnut Valley Memorial Park in El Dorado.
A memorial has been established with the Diabetes Association.
He was born Sept. 9, 1906 in Winfield to John B. and Cora Alice Stevens Robertson.
He married Grace Florence Bailey July 16, 1949 in Colorado Springs, Colo. She survives.
He worked for Mobil Oil Refinery for almost 40 years before he retired in 1968. He was a member of the Douglass American Legion.
Survivors include a stepson and a daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald E. Wertz of Albuquerque, N.M.; a stepdaughter, Maxine Mott of Aurora, Colo.; a sister, Audene Shipp of Oxnard, Calif.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
William Hixon Rites Wednesday
William R. Hixon, 92, rural Iola, father of Augustan Derrel Hixon, died Monday at his home.
His funeral service will be at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Friskel chapel in Iola with Rev. Claude Pressnell, a grandson, officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery at Iola.
Memorials can be made to the agriculture scholarship program of Allen County Community College.
He was born Oct. 30, 1889 at Hiatville as a son of Benjamin and Harriet Hixon.
He moved to a farm near Iola in 1907 and married the former Tressie A. Greathouse during a May 25, 1914 ceremony. She preceded him in death in 1961.
The Allen County farmer is survived by five other sons, Gail of the home, Robert of Skiatook, Okla., Maurice of Sikeston, Mo., Wayne and Jack, both of Iola; a brother, Archie of Iola, 16 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
