Rosie R. Wheeler dies Tuesday

Rosie R. Wheeler, 73, Leon, died Tuesday, Sept. 18.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado.
Burial will be in Walnut Valley Memorial Park, El Dorado.
Wheeler was bom Nov. 24, 1916, at Selman, Okla., to James and Dora Crissup Edwards.
She lived in Leon for 52 years.
She had been a homemaker and was a member of the Naomi Rebekah Lodge 566 of Leon,
the Glencoe Extension Homemakers Unit and the Leon Senior Citizens.
On Aug. 28,1936, she married Norris Wheeler in Alva, Okla. He survives.
Other survivors include daughters, Janice Withington and RosaLee Cox, both of Leon,
Mary Frances Wheeler of Winfield; brothers, Raymond Edwards of Douglass,
Enoch Edwards of Augusta, Fred Edwards of Salina; sisters, Velma Stebbens of El Dorado,
Lois Brown of Douglass, Gladys Pay-ton of Wichita, Betty Jo Shaffer of Leon;
three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the American Diabetes Assocation.

Father of Augustans dies Tuesday
Joe B. Galbraith, 67, Wichita, father of Augusta residents Sharon Henry and Mike Galbraith, died Tuesday, Sept. 18.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Dellrose United Methodist Church.
Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Wichita.
He was bom Oct. 3, 1922 in Johnson County, Tenn., to Phara McNeese adn Henry Austin Brummett.
Galbraith was a retired Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. repairman and had worked there 43 years.
On June 19,1942, he married Lois A. Moss in Wichita.
Other survivors include wife, Lois; son, Pat of Derby; brothers, Jim Brummett of Flat Rock, Mich.,
Bob Brummett of Whittier, Calif.; sister, Uteta Harris of Erwin, Tenn.; five grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Dellrose United Methodist Church.
De Vorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary, Wichita, is in charge of arrangements.


August E. Henry funeral today

Father of Augusta resident Janie Gillespie, August E. Henry, 68, Coffeyville, died Tuesday, Sept. 18.
Hisa funeral service was today at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Colonial Chapel in Coffeyville.
Other survivors include son, Patrick of Tulsa; brother, Donald of Edna;
sisters, Wauneta Van-Tighen, Charlotte White, Betty White, all of Coffeyville, Sharon of Parsons;
three grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.

Gayle Wesbrooks dies Thursday

Sister-in-law of Ray and Jo Wesbrooks of Augusta, Gayle W. (Dozer) Wesbrooks, 54, Burden, died Thursday, Sept. 20.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Grace Episcopal Church, Winfield. There will be a memorial service 2 p.m. Sunday in the Burden High School gym.
Survivors include husband, Bob; son, Darren of Burden; daughter, Pam Jones of Burden;
sisters, Gwen Whittsley of Manhattan, Betty Blair of Wichita, Virginia Hudson of Live Oaks, Calif.;
four grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Unified School District 462 library.
Wheeler Funeral Home in Burden is in charge of arrangements.

Jay Reed died Saturday

Jay Reed, 99, Augusta, died Saturday at his home.
His funeral service is tentatively scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel.
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Wife, husband rites pending

Rose Uhrig of Augusta died Friday, Sept. 21, and her husband, Harry Uhrig died sometime overnight at their home here.
Funeral services for both were pending this morning at the Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta.
