Muriel L. Grisell died on Sunday
Muriel L. Grisell, 81, Empori-a, died Sunday, Oct. 7.
She is the mother Muriel Ann Mullikin of Augusta.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church, Emporia.
Other survivors include son, R. Dean of Emporia; daughter, Donna M. Johns of Reading;
brother, Darrell Hindman of Silver City, N.M.; sisters, Lottie Bryant of Warrensburg, Mo.,
Melba Trisco of Hastings; nine grandchildren; 14 greatgrandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the First Christian Church.
Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Father of Augustan dies Thursday
John P. Bednarz, 96, Warren, R.I., died Thursday, Oct. 4.
He is survived by a daughter, Victoria Rigg of Augusta; a son, Frank Bednarz of Vacaville, Calif.;
four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions are suggested with any hospice organization

Albert J. Brown Sr. dies Tuesday
Retired Boeing Aircraft employee Albert James Brown Sr., 70, rural Augusta, died Tuesdsay, Oct. 9, at home.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Central Baptist Church,
the Rev. John Bliss and the Rev. Robert Hanthom officiating. Burial will be in Andover Cemetery.
Brown was born Feb. 2, 1920, at Oskaloosa, Iowa, to Gladys Marie Hartgrave and David J. Brown.
On Oct. 22, 1938, he married Christa Florence Farmer. She preceded him in death in 1988.
Also preceding him in death was a son, David Eugene.
He was a member of the American Legion and served in the Army during World War II.
Survivors include sons, Albert Brown Jr. of Arkansas City, Richard L. Brown of Augusta;
daughters, Sally Bliss of Chanute, Betty Poore of Bella Vista, Ark.;
brothers, Harry of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Kenny and Walter of Colfax, Iowa, Frank of Eddyville, Iowa,
Johnny of Marion, Iowa; 19 grandchildren; 22 greatgrandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Hospice Inc., 940 N. Waco, Wichita, Kan. 67203.
Dunsford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Thomas B. Thompson services Saturday
Thomas Blaine “Jack” Thompson, 98, Augusta, died today at the Augusta Medical Complex Inc. Long Term Care Unit.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Elmwood Cemetery, the Rev. Burl Allison officiating.
Thompson was born Jan. 4, 1892, in Goodwin, Ark., to Belle Hood Sanford and Issac Thomas Thompson.
On Sept. 15,1914, he married Ida Bell Aldridge in Newport, Ark. She preceded him in death on Jan. 29, 1969.
Thompson was a member of the local Masonic Lodge. He was a retired businessman.
Survivors include son, James Thompson of Augusta;
daughters, Dorothy Smitherman and Elsie Lehr, both of Augusta, Margaret Neeley of Wichita;
brother, Hubert Thompson of Augusta;
sisters, Nellie Thompson, Mabel Hedrick and Flossie Mahannah, all of Augusta;
14 grandchildren; 20 greatgrandchildren; four great-greatgrandchildren.
A son, Arthur C. Thompson preceded him in death in 1983.
Dunsford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Brother of Augustan dies Tuesday
Lois Sapp of Exeter. Mo., died Tuesday, He is the brother of Lucille Williams of Augusta.
