Walter Landon Riggs dies at AMCI
Retired Boeing Military Airplane Company worker Walter Landon Riggs, 67, Augusta, died Thursday, Nov. 29,
at the Augusta Medical Complex Inc.
Funeral services are pending with Dunsford Funeral Home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Riggs was born Nov. 21, 1923, in Haverhill to Mary Geneva Nixon and Landon Leroy Riggs.
On Nov. 18, 1946, he married Alyce Wedding in Augusta.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Curt of Augusta, Walter L. II of Cincinnati, Ohio, Lt. John F. of San Diego, Calif.;
daughters, Pricilla Templin of Emporia, Paige Hundemer of Kingwood, Texas, Allyson Robinson of Overland Parie;
sisters, Margaret Billbe of Corpus Christi, Texas; 14 grandchildren; one great grandchild.

Mother of Augustan dies Saturday
Bobbie Joe Sloat. 78, Manhattan, died Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Saint Mary Hospital, Manhattan.
She is the mother of Augusta resident Ruth Markos.
Funeral services are pending with the Edwards-Yorgenen-Meloan Funeral Home in Manhattan.
Sloat was born Aug. 12, 1912, in Alex, Ark., and had lived in Manhattan since 1946.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church and had been a teacher for the
Manhattan International Women’s Fellowship. She was also a homemaker.
On Dec. 30, 1945, she married Floyd B. Sloat in Batesville, Ark. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, David E. of Seattle, Wash.;
two sisters, Mrs. Min Moody and Mrs. Neely Clark, both of Little Rock, Ark.; a brother, Newell Best of Cabot, Ark.;
four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Paul B. Sloat, of Denver, Colo.
Memorial contributions may be made to any fund in Sloat’s name.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Dunsford Funeral Home, Bill Murray and Chuck Evans officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Riggs was born Nov. 21,1923, in Haverhill to Mary Geneva Nixon and Landon Leroy Riggs.
On Nov. 18,1946, he married Alyce Wedding in Augusta.
He had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Curt of Augusta, Walter L. II of Cincinnati, Ohio, Lt. John F. of San Diego, Calif.; daughters, Pricilla Templin of Emporia,
Paige Hundemer of Kingwood, Texas, Allyson Robinson of Overland Park; sisters, Margaret Billbe of Corpus Christi, Texas; 14 grandchildren; one great grandchild.

Lillie Ethyl Krouse dies at Wesley
Lillie Ethyl Krouse, 84, Augusta, died Saturday, Dec. 1, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at the First Southern Baptist Church, the Rev. George Goudie officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Lawn Cemetery.
Krouse was born Nov. 8,1906, in Cordell, Okla., to Zeb Franklin Knight and Nora Sisson.
On Feb. 25,1923, she married William E. Krouse in Robbins, Okla. He preceded her in death in 1970.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First Southern Baptist Church.
Survivors include sons H. Don of Fayetteville, Ark., Robert D. of Houston, Texas, James E. of Tyler, Texas;
brother, George H. Knight of Chickasha, Okla.; sister, Myrtle Rozell of Welling, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.

Luella Edwards-Chance services Tuesday
Homemaker Luella M. Edwards-Chance, 85, Wichita, died Saturday, Dec. 1.
She is the mother of Viola Drouillard and Madeline Dejmal, both of Augusta.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Douglass Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Bill; daughter, Audrey Grow of Hutchinson; sister, Mabel Echtold of El Dorado; nine grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home, Douglass, is in charge of arrangements.
