Karen M. Bates
Karen Marlene Bates, 47, daughter of Audine Bates and granddaughter of Eliza Clark, both of Augusta,
died Saturday, Dec. 22, in a one-car accident in the Dallas, Texas, area.
Funeral arrangements were pending this morning at the Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta.
Burial is expected to be in Elmwood Cemetery here.
She was born Nov. 12, 1943 in Wichita as a daughter of Harvey Bates and Audine Clark Bates.
She worked as a commercial graphics design artist and was a member of the Christian Church.
In addition to her mother and grandmother, she leaves a brother, Kent Bates of Peoria, Ill.,
and a sister Janice Patterson of Richmond Heights, Ohio. Ms. Bates also leaves two nieces,
Elizabeth Patterson of Bethesda, Md„ and Sarah Bates of Peoria, Ill.,
and a nephew, Aaron Bates, also of Peoria.
Ona Pearl Gannon
Ona Pearl Gannon, 60, Wichita, sister of Raymond Anderson of Leon, died Saturday, Dec. 2?.
Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, at the First Christian Church in Cherokee, Okla.
This restaurant cook and homemaker also leaves a husband, Mike of the home; a daughter,
Norma Jean VanMeter of Enid, Okla.; another brother, Elmo Anderson of Helena, Okla.'
sisters, Tressie Fogler of Manchester, Okla., Ethel Martin of Granberry, Texas, Twila Tatum of Newton,
Mary Joy of South Bend, Ind., and Kay Hall of Atlanta, her mother, Opal Anderson of Byron, Okla.,
two grandchildren, and one greatgrandchild.
Memorials to the Circle of Love Hospice of Enid, Okla, have been suggested.
The Fisher Funeral Home of Cherokee, Okla., is in charge of arrangements.
Anna L. Daniels
Anna Lee Daniels, 68, Douglass, died Sunday, Dec. 23, at the St. Joseph Medical Regional Medical Center, Wichita.
A graveside service has been scheduled for 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon at Douglass. Rev. Dan Ferguson will officiate.
She was born April 19, 1922 at St. Joseph, Mo., as a daughter of John Michael Daniels and Sophia Petrazilek Daniels.
This retired Wichita postal clerk leaves a son, Dennis Daniels of Parsons,
two nieces, Michael Malone and Thomas Malone of Slidell, La.,
wo nieces, Linda Johnson of Slidell, La., and Patricia Carlton of Pearl River, La.
Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of arrangements.
Phyllis J. Junkins
Retired restaurant waitress/liquor store clerk Phyllis J. Junkins, 59, Arkansas City,
mother of Janet Bishop of Towanda, died Friday, Dec. 21.
Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, at the Hawks Funeral Home in Arkansas City.
Burial will be in the Sunset Lawn Cemetery at El Dorado.
In addition to the daughter in Towanda, Mrs. Junkins leaves her husband, T.J. “Tom” Junkins;
daughters Karen Hutchinson of Winfield, Vickie Treadway of Oxford, and eight grandchildren.
Memorials to Hospice Inc. and the Spencer Ralston VFW Post Cancer Fund have been suggested.
