Edna Pearl (Meeks) Stevens
Homemaker Edna Pearl (Meeks) Stevens, 75, Leon, died Monday, Dec. 31, 1990,
at St. Francis Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Leon Christian Church. Burial will be in Leon Cemetery.
Stevens was born Oct. 2, 1915, in Wilson County to Fern (Taft) and George William Wooten.
On Dec. 30, 1935, she married William B. Meeks in Wichita. He preceded her in death in 1966.
She married Rex Stevens on March 23, 1972, in Leon. He survives.
Other survivors include sons, Robert Meeks of Leon, James Meeks of Cedar Rapids, Iowa;
two grandchildren, Robert James Meeks of Leon, Kathy L. Tatman of Lone Oak, Texas; four greatgrandchildren.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Rebekah Lodge.
Dunsford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established with the First Christian Church in Leon.
Moen funeral will be Friday
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AF) — Funeral services will be held Friday for Fred W. Moen,
retired Kansas City chief of Bureau for The Associated Press.
Moen, who directed AP operations in Kansas and Missouri for 13 years before retiring in 1984,
died Tuesday after a long illness.
Visitation will be held from . 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the McGilley and Hoge Memorial Chapel,
8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, Kan.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Shawnee Mission Park way and Nall,
in Mission, Kan., with burial to follow at Corinth Cemetery in Prairie Village.
The family suggests memorials to the William Allen White Foundation at the University of Kansas or
the American Lung Association.
McGilley and Hoge Memorial Chapel in Overland Park is handling arrangements.
FOOTNOTE: Moen was a periodic visitor to the Augusta Daily Gazette during his service as director
of AP operations in the Missouri-Kansas area.
