Arel Langston
Arel Leroy Langston, 65, Lakewood, Colo., died of cancer Feb. 23.
He was employed at the Mobil Oil refinery in Augusta for 10 years.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Lakewood United Methodist Church.
Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Langston was born March 28, 1925, in Smith Center to Percy & Ada Langston.
He attended grade school in Smith Center and
graduated from Kansas State University in electrical engineering.
After working 10 years in Augusta, he finished his career with Steams-Roger in Denver, Colo.,
retiring in August of 1982.
Langston was a veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
On May 15, 1944, he married Viola Cordle in San Luis Abispa, Calif.,
and the couple had two children, Brad and Amy.
He was a member of the Professional Engineers of Colorado
and the Lakewood United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Viola; sons, Bradley of Denver; daughter, Amy Langston Kral of Lakewood;
grandchildren, Adrianne & Jeffrey Kral of Lakewood; mother, Ada Langston of Hastings, Neb.;
sisters, Iris Eller of Lincoln, Neb., Pat Tux-horn of West Jordan, Utah; mother-in-law, Bernice Cordle fo Smith Center;
brother and sister-in-law, Dr. & Mrs. Howard Wagenblast of Salina; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials have been established with the Lakewood United Methodist Church and the American Cancer Society.
Leo Newport
Leo Newport, 86, Ponca City, Okla., father of Lucille Snider and Wilma Clawson,
died Friday, March 1, at an Oklahoma City nursing home.
His funeral service for this retired production foreman of Great Lakes Carbon Corp. will be 11 a.m.
Tuesday, March 5, at the First Christian Church of Cleveland, Okla.
Burial will be in the cemetery there.
In addition to Mrs. Snider and Mrs. Clawson, Mr. . Newport leaves two other
daughters, Virginia Garten of Norwich and Barbara Thornton of Oklahoma City;
a son, Ed Newport of Ponca City, as well as 13 grandchildren
including Tammy Wilson and Debby Carl of Augusta.
Memorials to the First Christian Church at Cleveland have been suggested.

Retired Beech sheet metal worker Salley E. Wilson, 83, Augusta, died Monday, March 4,
at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 7, at Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta.
Burial will be in Walnut Valley Cemetery, El Dorado.
Wilson was born on Jan. 30, 1908 in London, Ark., to Florence (Price) and John W. Gibson.
On May 14,1927, she married James Howard Wilson in London, Ark.
He preceded her in death in 1966.
Survivors include sons, Bobby G. of Salina and John E. of Wichita.;
daughters, Shirley L. Davis of Augusta and Helen R. Morris of Platte City, Mo.;
sisters, Emma Harris of Dexter, Mo., and Estelle Jones of Richmond, Calif.;
10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Eastern Star.

Clarence Hamm
Retired United Methodist Church minister Dr. Clarence Hamm, 90, Sun City, Ariz., died Sunday, March 3.
He was the minister of the Augusta Methodist Church in the early 1950s.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, at the First United Methodist Church, Sun City.
Burial will be later in Kinsley.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; and a son, Joe, of Kinsley.
Memorials have been established with the First Methodist Church, Rye, Colo.,
and the First United Methodist Church in Sun City.
Hazel H. Baldwin
Homemaker Hazel H. Baldwin, 89, Augusta, died today in rural Augusta.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta.
Burial will be in Latham Cemetery.
Baldwin was born Jan. 17, 1902, in Atlanta to Theodosha Thompson and Louis S. Sontag.
On Nov. 3, 1920, she married Clair D. Baldwin in Winfield. He preceded her in death in 1965.
Survivors include sons, Clair Jr. of Wichita, Lewis of Desert Hot Springs, Calif.;
daughters, Jaunita Deichman of Augusta, Alemeta Lemon of Wichita, Lucille Wallingford of Temple, Texas;
brother, William Sontag of Derby; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Oliver, and two sisters, Louise and Ida Faye.
