Russell Love

Russell Neil Love, 33, died Wednesday, June 5. He is the son of Ramonda Love of Augusta
and the brother of Tony Love of Augusta.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 10, at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.
He was born on Aug. 28, 1957 in Wichita.
He was a cook at Longneckers restaurant in Wichita and a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Augusta.
Survivors include his father, William Love of Longton; brothers James Sparks of Nevada and
Steve of Longton; sisters Linda Deter of El Dorado and Jodi Harker of Manford, Okla.;
and half-brothers Billy Love and Joe Love, both of Longton.
Memorials have been established with the Bradford Memorial Library in El Dorado
and the Cancer Research Unit at Kansas State University in Manhattan.
Carlson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

June Hasting

Homemaker Wanda June Hasting, 65, Augusta, died Saturday, June 8, at home.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Dunsford Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Mike Omundson officiating.
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Hasting was born June 24, 1925, to Bernice (Mattik) and James Edward Paul in Gridley.
On July 16, 1942, she married Harold L. Hasting in Burlington. He preceded her in death in 1979.
Survivors include sons, Raymond and Larry, both of El Dorado,
Mike of Claremore, Okla.; daughters, Kathy Ramsey of Douglass, Laura Mohler of Freeman, Mo.;
sister, Laura Sloan of Wichita;
17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Joe Keirsey

Retired Wichita Board of Education employee Joe Keirsey, 75, died Saturday, June 8.
He is the grandfather of Tammy Platt and Necy Leach and the greatgrandfather of J.R. Platt, all of Augusta.
Funeral services are 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at Cochran Mortuary, Wichita.
Burial will be in White Chapel Gardens, Wichita.
Other survivors include his wife, Gracie; son, Russell of Wichita; daughter, Betty Scott of Wichita;
brother, Thomas of California; sisters, Bertie Thompson of New Boston, Texas, Gladys Romaine of Wichita;
five other grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Charles Kennedy

Charles W. Kennedy, 77, of Douglass, died Sunday, June 9, in Winfield.
He is a retired metal worker, employeed by Northrup for 38 years in California.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Douglass at the First Baptist Church. A second service will be held later this week in Melrose, New Mexico. Burial will follow at Bowen, New Mexico.
Survivors includes a daughter, Shirley Ann Gardner of Vemail, Utah; brothers, James Kennedy of Douglass and Ray Kennedy of Wallcott, Iowa; sister Lola Bell Scarbrough, of Melrose, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was born Oct. 3, 1913 in Tulia, Texas to Needham Alexander Kennedy and Rosa Etta Smith. He moved to Melrose at an early age and completed his primary and secondary education there. He returned to Melrose following retirement and later moved to Douglass with his brother.
The Reverend Nel Aflord will preside.
Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta has the arrangements.

Retired mechanic, U.S.D. 394 transportation supervisor and Rose Hill fire chief E.S. “Short” Cox, 74, Rose Hill, died Sunday, June 9.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rose Hill United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel; son, Merrill of Crown Point, Ind.; daughters, Karen Royal, Shelly Bates, both of Rose Hill, Cheryl Carr of Wichita; brothers, Kermit of Rose Hill, Victor of Andover, Vestal of Wichita; sisters, Waldena Show-alter of Rose Hill, Rhonda Dennett of Burden;
six grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with Rose Hill United Methodist Church and the Douglass Masonic Lodge.
Smith Mortuary, Derby, is in charge of arrangements.

Albert Seiwert

Retired farmer Albert E. Seiwert, 70, Wichita, died Friday, June 7.
He is the brother of Augusta resident Rose Andra.
Funeral services were today.
Other survivors include his wife, Mary Lou; son, Jerome of Wichita;
daughters, Mary of Kent, Wash., Rose Seiwart Hall, Tery Neises, both of Wichita,
Kate Claasen of Whitewater; brothers, Ferd of Garden Plain, Pete of Walnut; sisters,
Hilda Fischer of Sharon, Bemadine Girrens of Goddard, Cornelia Martin of Wichita;
11 grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Wichita.
DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary, Wichita, is in charge of arrangements.
