Melvin Newman

Aircraft design engineer Melvin G. Newman, 53, Wichita, died Monday, July 15.
He is the brother of John Newman of Augusta.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Lakeview Funeral Home, Wichita.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda; son, Brad of Wichita;
daughters, Cathy Sampson of Wichita, Laura Kilby of South Carolina; mother, Goldie of Wichita;
brothers, Joe of Wichita, Steve of Auburn, Wash., Terry of Towanda;
sisters, Mary Michaleck of Pittsburg, Win-nifred Lester of Gays Mills, Wis.,
Norma Knoles of Apple Vally, Calif., Peggy Hatcher of Haysville; three grandchildren.

W.G. Wheat

William George Wheat, 82, Augusta, died today, July 18, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral arrangements are pending at the Richardson Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Burial will be in the Garden of Memories at Waterloo, Iowa.
Wheat was born Jan. 24, 1909 in LeSuer, Minn., as a son of Henry and Anna Prahl Wheat.
On June 12, 1935, he and the former Marjorie Wright were united in marriage during a ceremony at Caledonia, N.D.
This former salesman was affiliated with the Methodist Church.,
He leaves six sons, Dave and Harry, both of Augusta, George of Bettendorf, Iowa,
Don of Casselberry, Fla., Marvin of Eureka, and Lawrence of North Cote, Australia;
four daughters, Vanda Davey of Rock Wall, Texas, Ila Vorhies of Augusta,
Alice Follette of Green River, Wyo., and Mary Vandenhull of Cedar Falls, Iowa;
34 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

Loyd Applegate

Pharmacist Loyd U. Applegate, 63, Andover, died Tuesday, July 16, at home.
He was the former pharmicist at the Alcon Pharmacy in the local Wichita Clinic.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at the
Grace Presbyterian Church, Wichita, the Rev. Duncan Cameron officiating.
He was born Sept. 5,1927, to Eunice Wills and Henry Apple-gate in Shell Knob, Mo.
On Aug. 20, 1953, he married Caroline Hinsey in Arkansas City.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Arkansas City,
having served in the Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Caroline; son, the Rev. Kenneth Applegate of Menands, N.Y.;
daughter, Katherine McClain of Valdosta, Ga.; brothers, E.H. of Arkansas City,
Paul of Parma, Idaho; sisters, Nettie Williams of Arkansas City, Avis Alexander of Escondido, Calif.,
Erma Shrider of Grandview, Mo.; four grandchildren, Larissa & Emmie Robel of Menands, N.Y., and
Jessica & Rachel McClain of Valdosta, Ga.
A memorial has been established with Grace Presbyterian Church.
Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta, is in charge of arrangements.

William George Wheat, 82, Augusta, died Thursday, July 18, at St. Joseph Medical Center Wichita.
There will be a memorial service at 7 p.m. tonight at Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta.

Cedar Falls, Iowa. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories at Waterloo, Iowa.
