Charles DeWater

Pharmacist Charles William DeWater, 86, Douglass, died Saturday, July 27.
His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug 1 at the Douglass Christian Church.
Burial will be in Douglass Cemetery.
DeWater was born Nov. 20 1904, in rural Douglass to Lewis’ & Jessie (Knote) DeWater.
He was the retired owner of DeWater Drugs.
Survivors include his wife, Leona; a daughter, Beverly Kay of Jonesboro, Ark.;
a sister, Eula Bannon of Douglass; four grand-children; four greatgrandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the Christian Church at Douglass.
Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home Douglass, is in charge of arrangements.

Juanita Christain

Certified nurse aide Juanita M. (Heilman) Christian, 60, Eureka, died Wedensday, July 31.
She is the mother of Steve Berry of Augusta.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Campbell-Kelley Funeral Home, Eureka.
Other survivors are son, Robert Dale of Eureka; daughter, Christine Marlar of Eureka;
father, Fred Heilman of Eureka; brothers, Dale Heilman of Emporia, Eldon Heilman of Eureka;
sister, Joan Collins of Atlanta, Ga.; four grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the American Diabetes Association.

Cecil Fisher

Retired junior high school custodian Cecil G. “Pete” Fisher, 76, Augusta, died Thursday, Aug. 1,
at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, at Elwood Cemetery, Frank Buck officiating.
Fisher was born Nov. 1, 1914, in Atchinson to Birdie Lee (Gwin) and John V. Fisher.
On Sept. 3, 1973, he married Violet “Judy” May Beasley in Modesto, Calif. She survives.
Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta, is in charge of arrangements.

George Metcalf

Retired cement factory concrete worker George William Metcalf, 72, Augusta, died Saturday, Aug. 3,
at the St. Frances Regional Medical Center, Wichita.
There will be no funeral service.
Metcalf was born Oct. 6, 1918, in McKitrick, Mo., to Sodie (Thurman) & Ora Metcalf.
Survivors include sons, William Joseph and James Richard, both of St. Petersburg, Fla.;
daughters, Shirley Bainter of Augusta, Judith Elaine Mason of Portage, Ind.;
seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta, is in charge of arrangements.

Gerald Wiseman

Former Douglass City Council member and mayor Gerald Wiseman, 77, Douglass, died Monday, Aug. 5.
Funeral services are pending with Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home in Douglass.

Ross Ward

Retired civil engineer to Air Force Beech Ross K. Ward, 67, Augusta, died Sunday, Aug. 4,
at HCA Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta,
the Rev. Robert Box and Father Jim Billinger officiating.
Ward was born Jan. 6, 1924, in Marion, N.C., to Allie (Mace) and Clate Ward.
He was formerly married to Ruby Hoffman in Fort Wayne, Ind.
On Aug. 7, 1976, he married Pauline in Augusta. She survives.
Ward served in the military during the Korean conflict and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Other survivors include a son, Douglas Ward of Augusta;
daughters, Peggy Ann Thompson of Augusta, Donnie Fry of Hutchinson;
stepdaughters, Diana Doolittle, Carol Meyer, both of Augusta,
Paula Rigg, Linda Parker, both of Wichita; sisters, Lucy Lowery, Louise Green of Marion, N.C.;
five grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren.

Alice Nofzinger

Retired florist Alice Mariorie Nofzinger, 85, Augusta, died Monday, Aug. 5.
There will be no funeral service.
Survivors include daughter, CoNette Kastcn of Augusta, Betty Mater of Dover, Del.,
eight grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren.
Lakeview Funeral Home, Wichita, is in charge of arrangements.
