Emanuel Schmidt

Retired Cessna Aircraft Co. drop hammer operator Emanuel “Monie” Schmidt, 87, El Dorado, died Tuesday, Aug. 6.
He is the father of Marvin Schmidt of Augusta.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado.
Other survivors include his wife, Evelyn; sons, Dale of Cedar Vale, Tom of Towanda;
daughters, Carol Howell of Greensburg, Phyllis Samuels of El Dorado, Lois Barker of Tucson, Ariz.;
brother, Otto Schmidt; sister, Lena Schmidt, both of Wichita;
16 grandchildren; 18 greatgrandchildren.

Richard Gant

Oil field worker Richard Lee Gant, 47, Augusta, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, at St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Jefferson Street Baptist Church in Eureka.
Graveside services are noon Saturday at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta,
with the Rev. Allan Hunter officiating both services.
Gant was born July 23, 1944, in Wichita to Anna (Casteel) and Truman Gant.
On June 10, 1989, he married Caron Kofoid in Eureka. She survives.
Other survivors are stepson, Shannon Kofoid; brothers, Donald Gant of Odessa, Texas,
Ronald Gant of Eureka; sisters, Barbara Marrs of Wichita, Marian Phipps of Belle Plaine; and his parents of Eureka.
Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta, is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.

Mary Mears

Homemaker Mary Lou Mears, 63, El Dorado, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital, El Dorado.
Memorial services are 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta,
with the Rev. Amos Williams officiating.
Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.
Mears was born Feb. 14,1928, in Junction City to Bernice L. (Winans) and Edward George Smith.
On Dec. 1, 1973, she married Kenneth E. Mears in Augusta.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth; a son, Jay Goeken of Augusta;
a daughter, Ellen Rupert of Augusta; two brothers, Edward George Smith of Santa Rose, Calif.,
Robert E. Smith of Laytonville, Calif.; two sisters, Dorothy Munro of Mankato, Jean Kaiser of Junction City;
four grandchildem.
Two sons and three sisters preceded her in death.

John Mueller

Retired city employee John Henry Mueller, 72, Augusta, died Thursday, Aug. 8, at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Monday at Elmwood Cemetery Augusta.
Mueller was born March 24, 1909, in Centraur,Mo.,to Mary E (Haynes) and Conrad K Mueller.
Survivors include sons, John of Wichita; brothers, George W. of Union, Mo., Conrad of Anaconda, Mo.;
sisters, Dorothy Stephenson of Owensville Mo., Margaret Tick of High Ridge, Mo.,
and Helen Mayhew of Frederick Town, Mo.
Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta, is in charge of arrangements.

Vernon Cooper

Beech Aircraft Corp. painter Vernon Jay Cooper, 64, Augusta, died Thursday, Aug. 8.
Funeral services were today at the Poplar Avenue Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma; sons, Jerry W. of Wichita, Boyce D. of the home;
daughter, Brenda J. Archuleta of Wichita; brother, Bill of Melbourne, Ark.;
sisters, Doralee Carr of Washington, Matra Lawrence of California;
seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
Broadway Mortuary, Wichita, is in charge of arrangements.

Nellie Dillon

Former Boeing Wichita employee Nellie V. Dillon, Plant City, Fla., died Thursday, Aug. 8.
She is the mother of Bill Lough of Augusta.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Old Mission Mortuary, Wichita.
Other survivors are husband, Charles Frank; a daughter, Genevieve Ellen Bailey of Plant City;
brother, Roy Southard of Spring-field, Mo.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Milton J. Woody

Farmer, stockman and auctioneer Milton J. Woody, 80, Douglass, died Monday night.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Thursday at the Christian Church in Douglass.
Burial will be in the Richland Cemetery.
Mr. Woody was bom Feb. 11, 1911.
Survivors include his wife, Nadine; two sons, John D. Woody of Douglass and Albert L. Woody of Peoria, HI.,;
seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A sister, Alberta Gibson of Douglass, also survives.
