Lottie Crain
Homemaker Lottie Pearl (Wolf) Crain, 89, Arkansas City, died Monday, Aug. 26.
She is the sister of Leo Wolf of Douglass.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.
Survivors include a son, Elmo of Arkansas City; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Central Christian Church Library.
Verda Hart
Homemaker Verda I. Hart, 86, Latham, died Sunday, Aug. 25. She is the mother of Ivan Hart of Augusta.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado, and 1 p.m. at Latham Cemetery.
Other survivors include her husband, John; son, Phillip of El Dorado; daughter, Marian Hunter of Howard;
brothers, Percy Finley of Winfield, Vemie Finley of Latham;
13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association.
Helen Gallardo
Homemaker Helen T. Gallardo, 52, Augusta, died Sunday, Aug. 25, at HCA Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta.
Funeral services will are 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at St. James Catholic Church in Augusta,
with Father James Billinger officiating.
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Other survivors include sons, Tony of Lawrence, Michael of Augusta;
brother, Manuel Cabrales Jr. of El Dorado; a sister, Lucy Carrillo of Augusta;
two grandchildren, Kelsi Alise and Michaela Alane, both of Augusta.
A memorial has been established with the St. James Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 250, Augusta, Kan. 67010.

Military funeral
A full military funeral service with honors was held Aug. 20 for Alfred A. Munroe Jr., 68, Alexandria, Va.,
brother of Robert Munroe of Augusta, at the Arlington National Cemetery outside of Washington, D.C.
Munroe died at his home on Aug. 13.
He was born Sept. 12, 1922 in Wichita as a son of Alfred Alexander Munroe and Nellie Alice England Munroe.
In 1940, he graduated from Douglass High School and attended Kansas State University
at Manhattan for one year before receiving his bachelor’s degree from Wichita University.
Later, he would graduate with honors from the University of Syracuse and a degree in public administration.
Munroe earned a law degree from George Washington University.
He saw service and was wounded in the Korean War. In addition to the Purple Heart, he received a Bronze Star.
Following graduation from George Washington University,
he worked for the U.S. Department of the Army in Paris, France, and began a lengthy civil service career.
He also worked at Worms, Germany, as comptroller for the European Military Command.
Attending the service at Arlington were brother Robert from Augusta,
nephew Allen Munroe of Wichita, and sister Ruth Shenfeld of Glendale, Calif.
