Sharan Branstetter

Sharan J. (Hicks) Branstetter, 46, Augusta, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, at the HCA Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at the Downing & Lahey Mortuary in Wichita.
Rev. W.M. Childress, pastor at the Christ Lutheran Church here, will officiate and burial will be in the
Lakeview Mausoleum in Wichita.
She was born Aug. 28, 1944 as a daughter of Roy Hicks and Grace Caviness Hicks.
Survivors include her husband, James of the home; two daughters, Kristen Elsenrath of Wichita and
Kelly Heinhold of Augusta; two step-sons, James R. Branstetter and Jeff W. Branstetter of Wichita;
two stepdaughters, Julie Ann Krehbiel and Jana Louise Thimesch, both of Kingman;
two sisters, Linda Williams of Wichita, and Deborah Williams of Joplin, Mo.,
stepparents, Charles anbd Anna Moyer of Galena; grandmother, Ella Caviness of Tulsa, Okla.;
four grandchildren, and five step-grandchildren.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society, 1231 Longfellow, Wichita, 67207, have been suggested.

Helen Gallardo

Homemaker Helen T. Gallardo, 52, Augusta, died Sunday, Aug. 25, at HCA Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta.
Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at St. James Catholic Church in Augusta,
with Father James Billinger officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
She was born Dec. 21,1938 to Carmen (Contreras) and Manuel Cabrales in Augusta.
On Oct. 18, 1958, she married Henry Gallardo Jr. in Augusta. He survives.
Mrs. Gallardo was a member of St. James Catholic Church.
Other survivors include sons, Tony of Lawrence, Michael of Augusta;
brother, Manuel Cabrales Jr. of El Dorado; a sister, Lucy Carrillo of Augusta;
two grandchildren, Kelsi Alise and Michaela Alane, both of Augusta.
Preceding her in death were a brother, Charlie, and a sister, Rose Mary Cabrales.
A memorial has been established with the St. James Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 250, Augusta, Kan. 67010.

Roman Schmidt

Roman Schmidt, 90, El Dorado, died Thursday, Aug. 29. He was the father of Augusta resident Mary C. Schmidt.
Funeral services were Saturday at St. John’s Catholic Church, El Dorado.
Schmidt was a retired Skelly Oil Co. employee and a former Augusta resident.
Other survivors include a son, Sam of Manhattan; daughter, Martha L. Maloney of Irving, Calif.;
sisters, Catherine Penny of El Dorado, Annie Gradel of Clearwater, Ha.; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Memorials have been established with Knutson Manor, El Dorado, and the American Cancer Society.
Kirby-Morris Funeral Home, El Dorado, is in charge of arrangements.

William Whiteside

William Fulton Whiteside, 75, Rose Hill, died today, Aug. 30, at HCA Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, at the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel here.
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born March 21, 1916 in Daisy, Okla., as a son of William Preston Whiteside and Orvie Mae Anderson Whiteside.
He married Mildred Pauline Wilson. She preceded him in death in 1980.
He later married Marguerite L. Shasteen. She survives.
Whiteside was a carpenter for Eby Construction. He was a member of the Baptist Church
and a veteran of World War II.
In addition to his wife, he leves son Ted Whiteside of Rose Hill; daughter Cuma Lynn Wilson of Augusta;
brothers, Melvin, Herbert, and Dupree, all of Antlers, Okla., Audie of Haysville, and Hollie of Porterville, Calif.;
sisters, Mabel McMahan of Anders, Okla, Oneida Trainer of Chicago,
111., Maude Arnold of Niland, Calif., and Etna Shaw of Porterville, Calif.;
three grandchildren (Paige Wilson of Augusta, Carrie and Kelly Whiteside of Rose Hill).
