Frank Slusser
Frank Slusser, 53, Wichita, died Wednesday at St. Joseph Medical Center, Wichita.
He was the brother of Floyd Slusser of Augusta.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Friday at the Quiring-Old Mission Mortuary, Wichita.
Slusser was assistant to the chief and captain in the Wichita State University Police Department.
For several weeks, he had been ill and was undergoing bone cancer treatment.
Other survivors include his wife, Verna; sons, Michael Suffron of El Dorado and William Suffron of Wichita;
daughters, Deborah at home, Kimberly Nellans of Peabody, Tammy Jones of Phoenix, Ariz.,
and Misha Milbradt of Echo, Minn.; mother, Alice Slusser of Goddard; brothers, Robert of Goddard,
Max and Larry, both of Cheney, Earl of Wichita; sisters, Sally Duree of Wichita and Daisy Heminger and
Mary Slusser, both of Cheney; 13 grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the Leukemia Society of America.

Lawrence Tackett
Lawrence Merton Tackett, 78, Colorado Springs, Colo., died Monday, Sept. 30, at
Boulder Community Hospital in Boulder, Colo. He was a former Augusta resident.
Funeral services were Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Christian Church of Security, Security, Colo.,
Dr. Dallas Shafter officiating.
Tackett was a retired Beech. Aircraft, Wichita, engineer. He retired after 37 years of service.
Tackett belonged to the First Southern Baptist Church of Hemet, Calif.,
the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star Lodge 211.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene (Periman); sons, Winfred Tackett of Indianapolis, Ind.,
Larry of Colorado Springs; daughters, Ruth Ludlum of Security, Colo., Linda Foracker of Boulder;
Frieda Carothers of Chickasha, Okla.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Ahlziemers Foundation Association,
919 Michigan Ave., Suite 1000, Chicago, ILL. 60611.
Dove-Witt Family Mortuary, Fountain, Colo., was in charge of arrangements.

George A. Long
George Albert Long, 64, Augusta, father of Gerald Long and Karen Bruner, both of Augusta,
died Saturday, Oct. 5, at the St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral service will be 2 o’clock tomorrow, Oct. 8, at the DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary in Wichita.
Rev. Glen Vance will officiate and burial will be in the El Paso Cemetery at Derby.
He was born Jan. 19, 1927 in Wichita as a son of John and Cora Learn an Long.
On Sept. 24, 1947, he married the former Coralee Timmons in a ceremony at Colorado Springs, Colo. She survives.
He served with the army during World War II.
Mr. Long worked for Coca-Cola Bottling Co. prior to taking a job as a Meadow Gold dairy deliveryman.
Other survivors include brothers Gilbert Long of Wichita, Harry Long of Bartlesville, Okla.,
James Long of Vinita, Okla, and Richard Long of Rose Hill; sisters, Gladys Carter of Wichita, and
Elizabeth Estep of Bartlesville, Okla., and five grandchildren.

Amelia Ninke
Amelia Elizabeth Ninke, 89, Augusta, died Sunday, Oct. 6, at the Augusta Medical Complex, Augusta.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta, the Rev. W.M. Childress officiating.
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Ninke was born Sept. 23, 1902, in Monclova, Ohio, to Margaret (Zerwann) and Gerhard Keller.
On June 12,1926, she married Herbert John Ninke in Gibsonburg, Ohio.
He preceded her in death Nov. 27, 1988.
Survivors include sons, Robert L. of Augusta and William of Holmdel, N.J.;
a sister, Christine Overmyer of Gibsonburg;
11 grandchildren; 14 greatgrandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Christ Lutheran Church.
