James Dunegan

James P. Dunegan, 75, Wichita, died Saturday, Oct. 5. He was the father of Judy Leach of Douglass.
Rosary is 8 p.m. today at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Wichita.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at the same location.
He was a retired Boeing Wichita tool crib operator.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; sons, James E. of Santa Cruz, Calif., Charles J. of Wichita;
daughters, Mary Blumenshine of Clearwater, Dorothy LaStage of San Diego, Calif., Janie Barton of Valley Center;
brother, Robert of Phoenix, Ariz.; sisters, Betty Zellar of Wichita, Mary Jane Kraus of Wichita;
18 grand-children; six great-grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and the American Association for the Blind.
Lakeview Funeral Home, Wichita, is in charge of arrangements.

Donald Adelson

Donald Jerome Adelson, 56, Woodbum, Ore., died Oct. 4 in the Salem Hospital in Salem, Ore., of cancer.
He was the son of Winnifred Adelson of Augusta.
Funeral services are 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, at the Cornwall Colonial Chapel in Wood-bum, Ore.,
with burial Oct. 10 at Lewis and Clark Memorial Gardens in Lewiston, Idaho.
In 1952, Donald, his parents and the rest of the immediate family moved to Augusta where Donald
graduated from Augusta High School. He also attended Southwestern College in Winfield and
played basketball for two seasons.
On June 29, 1973, he married Carol Isabel Robinson, who had two daughters and a son by a former marriage.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Adelson of Woodbum, Ore.;
two daughters and in-laws, Rene & Clifton Furakawa, Leslie & Bob Jordan, Kevin Robinson, all of Seattle, Wash.;
brothers, Richard Adelson of Andover, Roger Adelson of Tempe, Ariz.; seven grandchildren.
Family and friends may contribute to a charity or church in his memory or send a check to Roger Adelson, 311 E. Encanto Dr., Tempe, Ariz. 85281, who has established a memorial for the Swede Plain Church at Cedar Covenant and the Abilene High School Band, Abilene.

Jay Collins

Jay M. Collins, 65, Torrance, Calif., died after a short illness Sept. 27 at his home.
He was the brother of Augusta resident Christine Smith and son of John & Mary Collins, also of Augusta.
Funeral services were Oct. 1 in the Green Hills Memorial Park, Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.,
the Rev. Kevin Johnson officiating. His mother, brother, sister and their spouses from Kansas attended the services.
Collins was born April 15, 1926, in Augusta.
During World War II, Collins served in the U.S. Navy aboard the Carrier USS Attu, CVE 102 from 1944 to 1947.
On March 5, 1959, he married Teruko Yamano.
Other surivivors include his wife; a daughter and son-in-law Heidi Lou and Michael Porche of Gardena, Calif.;
a brother, Jeffrey L. Collins, his wife Carolyn and their sons Ryan A. & Nolan M. Collins of Hutchinson;
a brother-in-law, Lawrence “Tubby” Smith of Augusta;
a son, L. Drew Smith, his wife Cindy and their son Brian P. Smith of Calabasas Park, Calif.;
an uncle, Martin Haigler and his wife, Shirley, of Hutchinson.
He was preceded in death by a half-brother and a nephew.
Collins was a life-long sheet metal worker in aircraft production, fabrication and modification,
working in both domestic and foreign service.
