Leonard Meis Dies At 70
Leonard F. Meis, 70, Wichita, father of Marian Walker of Augusta, died Monday at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
His service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wichita. Father Thomas Cosgrove will officiate and burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery in Wichita.
The rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Culbertson Mortuary in Wichita.
A memorial has been established with the St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund.
He was born Oct. 29, 1911 in Le Mars, Iowa to Joseph I. and Katherine Roreke Meis.
He married Henrietta M. Smarsh. She survives.
He was a retired Cities Service Gas Co., employee.
He was a World War II veteran.
Other survivors include a son, Linden Meis of Wichita; his mother, Katherine Meis, La Mars ; brothers, Richard Meis, Ray Meis and Clarence Meis, all of Grandville, Iowa and Herbert Meis, South Sioux City, Neb., Ed Meis, Hawthorne, Calif.; sisters, Tillie Wols of La Mars, Marian Abdella of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Joan Van Sten-wyk of California, Margaret Grow of Littleton, Colo, Ruth Marieno of Des Moines, Iowa, and Janet Condiotti of Huntington Beach, Calif., and four grandchildren.

Gerald Paul Dies At 71
Gerald Paul, 71, 1200 Ohio, died today at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
His service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born Oct. 1, 1911 in Augusta to Clyde David and Mary Ethel Hobbs Paul.
He married Leita M. Ballew Aug. 31, 1940 in Augusta. She survives.
He was a retired Mobil Oil refinery employee. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, U.S. Navy Seabees, the American Legion and the B.P.O.E.
Other survivors include a son, Gary Paul of Potwin; daughters, Carol Susan Boyd of Saudi Arabia and Joy Cox of Lenoir City, Tenn., and two grandchildren, Foxx Boyd and Amy Cox.

Vaneta Graves Rites Oct. 30
Vaneta Graves, 88, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, at the Colonial Manor nursing home in Douglass.
Graveside rites will be conducted at the Douglass Cemetery at 1 o’clock Saturday afternoon, Oct. 30.
She was born May 16, 1894 in Douglass as a daughter of Charles B. and Sarah Dean Piper. She was a lifelong resident of Douglass.
She was married to William P. Graves. He preceded her in death in 1947.
Suviving are two stepsons, Frank Graves of Parsons and W.A. Graves of Douglass; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Fern Chauncey of Chanute, and nine step-grandchildren.

Eva Petrie Dies At AMCI
Eva Esther Petrie, 91, Douglass, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Her service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Douglass United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hazelton, Kan., cemetery. Rev. George McCall will officiate.
She was born May 2, 1891 in Hazelton to William and Sarah Coulter George.
She married Harry V. Petrie July 30, 1924 in Wellington. He preceded her in death in 1965.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wichita. She moved to Douglass 15 years ago from Wichita.
Survivors include a son, Charles Petrie of Douglass; a stepson, James H. Petrie of Seattle, Wash.; a stepdaughter, Louise Oliver of Baton Rouge, La.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home of Douglass is in charge of arrangements.

Brother Dies In California
Raymond H. Davis, 82, Wichita, brother of Mabel Henry of Leon, died Thursday in California.
His service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Church of the Brethren in Wichita. Rev. Lyle Albright and Rev. Fayette Fields will officiate and burial will be in Lakeview Gardens.
A memorial has been established with the First Church of the Brethren in Wichita.
He was born Jan. 1, 1900 in Augusta to Clark and Fannie Siahom Davis.
He married Evalena Elred. She preceded him in death.
