LaVergne Falwell

LaVergne (Franks) Falwell, 94, of Augusta, died Thursday, Nov. 21, at the Augusta Medical. Complex.
Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, at the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel.
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Falwell, a homemaker, was a member of the First Baptist Church in Augusta.
She was married to Foster Falwell on June 21, 1934. He preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 1990.
She was born May 9, 1897.
Survivors include stepdaughters, Mary Ann Carpenter of Augusta and Bette Diner of Prairie Village;
nephew, Bill Franks of Powell, Wyo.; three step-grand daughters and six step great-grandchildren.
Memorials to the First Baptist Church of Augusta have been suggested.

Cecil A. Kirch

Cecil Ada Kirch, 99, of Augusta, died Thursday Nov. 21, at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Her graveside service was today at Elmwood Cemetery.
Kirch was born Sept. 10,1892 in Waco, Neb., to Frederick A. Schultz and Anna E. Heinzman.
She married to Emmet Kirch here on April 14, 1910. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons.
She is survived by grandaughters, Elizabeth Rice of Wamego and Linnette Pugh of Harrisonville, Mo.;
and four greatgrandchildren.

Burnie Smith

Bumie W. Smith, 81, father of Louise Roberts of Augusta, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, in Denver, Colo.
His funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at Broadway Christian Church in Wichita.
Rev. Cecil Adams of the First Assembly Church of God in Haysville will officiate and
burial will be in the Wichita Parks Cemetery.
Smith was born Aug. 9, 1910 in Springfield, Mo. to George S. Smith and Emma (Gilmore) Smith.
He was married in 1972.
Smith was a member of the Sunflower Masonic Lodge.
He was a retired welder for the aviation industry and former resident of Wichita.
Smith is also is survived by his wife Esther; daughters, Maudie P. Sublett of Wichita,
Emma J. Acheson of Washougal, Wash; son, B.L. Smith of Harper; 15 grandchildren; 20 greatgrandchildren.

Ethel Maggard

Ethel Maggard, 84, Augusta, died Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Augusta Medical Complex Long Term Care Unit.
Funeral services were today at Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta, the Rev. Edsel Lovette officiating.
Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Maggard was born Jan. 23, 1907 in Ava, Mo., to Laura (Lakey) and Samuel Capps.
On Nov. 12, 1921, she married William Ruben Maggard in Pryor, Okla. He preceded her in death in 1969.
Maggard was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include sons, Norman and Samuel, both of Augusta, Frank of Clinton, Ark.;
daughters, Bessie Cowles of Augusta, Anna Genter of St. John; brothers, Everett L. Caps of Augusta,
Henry Capps of Brigham City, Utah; 25 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were two daughters, Dora DeWitt and Laura DeWitt.

Marjorie DeWeese

Marjorie M. DeWeese, 76, Wichita, died Friday, Nov. 22. She was the sister of Gordon DeWeese of Augusta.
Funeral services were today at Cochran Mortuary, Wichita, and the Nashville (Kan.) Cemetery.
Other survivors include brothers, Orland of Medicine Lodge, Max of Kcrrville, Texas;
sisters, Orpha L. Plagens of Wichita, Geneva Shclman of Cunningham, Virginia Cavit of Lyons.
A memorial has been established with St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
